Five races into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, Aaron Fike, No. 1 Red Horse Racing Toyota, is right where he wants to be. He leads the Raybestos Rookie of the Year race by 17 points and is 11th in the standings, seven points out of 10th-place. "I think everything has gone really well so far," Fike said. "My goals coming into the season were to run in the top 10 in points, win rookie of the year and I'd like to win a pole … a race win would be nice too." Fike has finished in the top 10 in consecutive races and led six laps at Kansas - the first lead he has had in 57 NASCAR races (including 52 NASCAR Busch Series starts). He also knows that he could be doing better in the standings. "We should have more top 10s; we've run up front almost every race," Fike said. The Loop Data backs him up. Fike's Average Running Position is 11.925, eighth-best in the series. He is quick to give the credit to his team. "I'm just happy to be with a good team," Fike said. (David M. Vaughn Photo)

Erik Darnell, driver of the No. 99 Northern Tool & Equipment Ford F-150, is coming off his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory when he won at Kansas Speedway last month. Darnell, who is 10th in the series point standings, stayed sharp over the weekend as he won the ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway. The Beach Park, IL, native will look to keep his hot streak going on Friday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway as the NCTS returns to action with the Quaker Steak and Lube 200.
You've won your last two races so there must be a big smile on your face these days, right?
"I can't complain. I think John Quinn and all the guys did a great job out at Kansas a couple of weeks ago with the truck and it showed out there on the track. We had a really good race and ended up winning the thing, which is cool, and then to go to Kentucky this past weekend and win the ARCA race just kind of icing on the cake for the good run we had out there at Kansas. We're coming to Lowe's with some of the stuff that we learned at Kansas and we should have a good truck for the race."

As the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series only three-time champion, Jack Sprague, No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota, is arguably one of the best drivers in series' history. He has wins at 18 of the 44 tracks at which he has competed and at least one top-five finish at 39 different tracks. But if there is one place Sprague hasn't conquered, it is Lowe's Motor Speedway. In three races at the track, his best finish is 26th, in 2004. Last year, in his first race there with Wyler Racing and crew chief Tony Furr, Sprague finished 34th. He can't figure out why. "I don't know what it is," Sprague said. "I love this place. I won the first Sportsman race the track had - I can run fast here." His actions spoke louder than words Thursday, during the first day of a two-day series test at Lowe's. Sprague's test laps were among the top five quickest in each of the three sessions. "I know the guys gave me two great trucks here at the test," Sprague said. "Hopefully we can come back next Friday and at least contend for the win." (David M. Vaughn Photo)

Wyler Racing and Johnny Benson had the odds stacked against them when they rolled into Richmond International Raceway last weekend. Here was a full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team with a former full-time Nextel Cup Series regular as their wheelman. He was driving a Toyota Camry; a car that has struggled to make races in a Car of Tomorrow and a regular car. Some were scratching their heads as to why they would subject themselves to this punishment; especially with 50+teams entered into the race. But, when the checkered flew under sunny skies on Sunday, Benson and Wyler Racing left with their collective heads held high. Heck, they had them held even before the race when they qualified on Friday. In doing so; they bested a two-time Daytona 500 champion, a Nextel Cup champion who hadn't missed a race since 1994 and five other fully-funded teams in the top series of the sport. The team is now pulling out almost all of the stops to find the speed they need to qualify each week on time.

Mike Skinner saves the best for last. That's not to say he's not the best there is in the beginning and the middle. He is. But he shines when it counts - the end. Skinner's average start is 2.8. His average position in the middle of each race is 5.0. But his average finish is 2.4. All those marks are far and away the best in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. (VPS Motorimages Photo)

For nearly 15 years, late model stock cars prepared by Jason 'Scotty' Williamson pounded the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States winning at places like Martinsville, South Boston and New River Valley. That success, and the drive to achieve even more in racing, took him in an unusual direction that eventually earned him a position with the HT Motorsports No. 59 Toyota Tundra driven by Terry Cook in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. "I started thinking about moving on," said Williamson, now the brake and suspension specialist with HT Motorsports. "I wanted to do more than late model race. I wanted to be a part of the big three - NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch, or the Craftsman Truck Series. I decided to look into the Patrick Henry Community College Motorsports Program. With all the experience I had, a lot of people wondered why I would go back to school, but I knew the instructor and it was a chance to see how someone else did things." (HT Motorsports Photo)

Johnny Benson will be returning to some very familiar territory - but in an unfamiliar car - this weekend at Richmond International Raceway. Benson, normally found driving the No. 23 Toyota Tundra for Bill Davis Racing in the Craftsman Truck Series, will attempt to make Saturday night's Nextel Cup Series race. He'll be piloting a Toyota Camry, not for BDR, but for Wyler Racing. Wyler has Jack Sprague wheeling their No. 60 Toyota Tundra in the NCTS ranks. To get ready for their NNCS debut, Wyler and Benson took part in a two-day test session last month. Oh, did we mention this also a COT race for the Cup cars? Yeah, that should make it even more interesting for Benson. Not only is it his first Cup attempt since 2003, it's also his first time in a COT. The good news is every other team in the Cup garage will be racing with the COT for only the fourth time this season. "I think it's going to be great," Benson said. "We went to Richmond and the test went very well. (VPS Motorimages Photo)
