Johnny B Takes New Hampshire

09-16-2006  6:15 pm

Johnny B Takes New Hampshire

After starting the 2006 season looking for his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory, Johnny Benson has taken the series by storm throughout the summer months. After scoring his maiden series win at his home track in Michigan, Benson has been on a tear. He followed with wins at Milwaukee and Nashville, and picked up win number four of the season by taking the checkered flag in the New Hampshire 200 at New Hampshire International Raceway.

Starting alongside teammate Mike Skinner, who scored his fifth pole of the season earlier in the day during qualifying, Benson put the No. 23 Toyota Certified Used Vehicles Toyota out front on the first lap and flexed his muscles throughout the rest of the day. Benson never ran lower than fourth, and even then patiently and methodically worked his way back towards the front. After dueling side by side with championship rival Todd Bodine for nearly a dozen laps for the second spot, Benson closed up on leader Kyle Busch during the tenth of a record twelve cautions on lap 160 and breezed by to take the lead for the final time on lap 166.

Benson withstood two final cautions once out front to beat Skinner to the line by a comfortable 0.691 seconds.

"All of those cautions really kept the guys loose," Benson said in victory lane. "In fact, we kept joking about all the horses outside the backstretch. This thing was just unbelievable. They guys wanted to make some adjustments and it was just running so good I couldn't tell them what adjustments to make. We just made a couple of air pressure adjustments and we were consistent on pit road. That got us to where we needed to be to take advantage of having such a fast Toyota Tundra."

Benson's strong afternoon netted him 30 points in the race for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship as he closes the gap on leader Todd Bodine.

"The only way we can catch Todd is by doing what we did today," Benson said. "There is no other way. Todd and his team are consistent and they have been all season long. I don't think we've been bad by any means, but when they've had a bad race they end up 15th and 18th and we've ended up 22nd and 32nd. As long as we are in victory lane, then none of it matters. We're doing all we can do to catch him. If we get him, great. If not, well, we are going down swinging."

Benson's win combined with Skinner's runner-up finish gave Bill Davis Racing a sweep of the top two finishers.

"I knew after we qualified that if we could keep it loose enough we would have a good shot to win," Skinner said of his No. 5 Toyota Tundra Toyota. "We know that's been our weakness this year, keeping up with the adjustments. The first part to solving a problem is knowing you have one, and we're working on it. We have had great runs all season long, but we haven't had nearly the finishes we deserve. Today we did. We were probably a second or third place truck, so it's nice to come out of here finishing were you ought to."

Skinner was complimentary of third-place finisher Kyle Busch. Busch, driving the No. 15 Freedom Grill Chevrolet, led the race late in the going before giving way to the eventual winner and then locked in a hard race with Skinner for second.

"There are guys out there that are Chevrolet drivers that I don't get along with," Busch said. "One of them got into me and tried to wreck me early in the race. But there are drivers from other manufacturers out there that I respect and enjoy racing with and Mike Skinner is one of those. I could have got into him there but I let him go on and we gave up the spot but it was the right thing to do because that's how he races me. I don't know what it is but I just love these one mile ovals. This place and the old Chicago Motor Speedway have always been real good to me."

Series championship leader Todd Bodine was fourth in the No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota, while David Starr rounded out the top five in the No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota. Ron Hornaday was sixth in the No. 33 AESHR.com Chevrolet, Rick Crawford seventh in the No. 14 Circle Bar Truck Corral Ford, Matt Crafton eighth in the No. 88 Menards Chevrolet, Erik Darnell ninth in the No. 99 Woolrich Ford, and Mark Martin fought back from a trifecta of misfortunes to round out the top ten in the No. 6 Scotts Ford.

The race was slowed twelve times for numerous spins and crashes, starting on the opening lap when Bill Lester, Aric Almirola and Robert Richardson crashed hard in turn one. After a couple of debris cautions, Mark Martin spun on the backstretch to bring out the caution on lap 68. That set up a four-truck tangle on the backstretch on the ensuing restart involving Chase Miller, Terry Cook, Brendan Gaughan, and Bobby East. Boston Reid backed his truck into the turn one wall on lap 88 and defending series champion Ted Musgrave followed suit on lap 91.

Musgrave was racing with Rick Crawford at the time and expressed his displeasure with Crawford on the track, earning a NASCAR-mandated parking for his efforts. Mike Bliss tagged the turn one wall on lap 168 and a Clint Bowyer spin on lap 178 brought out the final yellow of the day.

There were no injuries in any of the incidents throughout the day, although the numerous yellows held the average speed to just 92.323 miles an hour.

Next up for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is the Smiths Las Vegas 350 at the newly reconfigured Las Vegas Motor Speedway. TruckSeries.com will have complete event coverage starting on Friday September 22 as the teams have an open test day on the 1.5-mile tri-oval. Complete event coverage will continue on Saturday September 23 as the teams practice, qualify, and race all on the same day. Log on throughout the weekend for exclusive TrackSideLive! coverage.

38. Lap 176 - Benson leads Busch, Skinner, Benson, Starr, Hornaday, Crawford, Reutimann, Crafton, Martin, Ragan, Moore, Allmendinger, Setzer, Miller, Bliss, Bell, McCumbee, Earnhardt and Sprague. Restart this time past the flagstand.

37. Lap 174 - Bowyer goes for a ride in turn two, spinning after contact with Darnell. Caution out for the twelfth time of the day. Minimal damage for Bowyer's truck and he drives away.

36. Lap 169 - Benson leads Busch, Skinner, Bodine, Starr, Hornaday, Darnell, Reutimann, Crafton, Ragan, Martin, Allmendinger, Moore, Sprague, Miller, Bell, Setzer, Bliss, McCumbee and Earnhardt. Cook is the first driver off the lead lap two laps down.

35. The eleven cautions breaks the track record for yellow flags. Earnhardt picks up the free pass. There are 21 trucks on the lead lap.

34. Lap 167 - Busch and Benson locked in a side by side race for the lead when Bliss gets a tap and spins into the turn one wall. Caution out for the elevent time as NASCAR reviews loop scoring data to determine who was leading.

33. Lap 163 - Restart. Benson has to deal with the lapped truck of Bowyer before trying to chase down Busch to race for the lead.

32. Lap 158 - J.C. Stout has a flat and comes to a stop in turn four to bring out the tenth caution.

31. Lap 153 - Busch leads by over 2 seconds. Hornaday, Crawford and Darnell are all racing for sixth.

New Hampshire 200 Race Updates 21-30

09-16-2006  3:28 pm

30. Lap 148 - Bodine had cleared Benson but he drifted up in turn three allowing Benson to dip inside and take over second.  Skinner slips through to take third as Bodine falls back to fourth.

29. Lap 144 - Benson and Bodine are locked side by side with Skinner closing.  Busch takes advantage of the side by side racing and pulls out to a 1.9 second lead.

28. Lap 139 - Busch leads as Benson and Bodine battle for second.  Skinner, Starr, Hornaday, Crawford, Darnell, Reutimann, and Ragan round out the top-10.  Sprague is eleventh, with Moore, Bliss, Martin, Crafton, Almirola, McCumbee Allmendinger, Miller and Bell the rest of the lead lap.

27. Lap 132 - Caution out for the ninth time for debris. Busch leads Bodine, Benson, Hornaday, Skinner, Starr, Crawford, Darnell, Ragan, Reutimann, Sprague, Moore, Bliss, Martin, Almirola, Crafton, McCumbee, Allmendinger, and Bell on the lead lap. We were able to get a word with Musgrave between cautions, so stick with us for our post-race coverage to listen to his interview. We also were able to talk to Gaughan, Lester, and Richardson after their accidents as well.

26. Lap 118 - Eighth caution of the day is out for debris out on the fronstretch. Skinner reports a tight condition to his crew. Pit stops are expected.

25. Lap 113 - Darnell moves past Setzer to move to ninth. Benson leads by 0.66 seconds over Bodine. Hamilton rejoins the race after stopping to change the battery. He is now 4 laps off the pace.

24. Lap 109 - Hamilton, Jr. has some damage to the right front nose of his truck and is reporting a battery problem to boot, dropping him off the pace.

23. Lap 106 - We tried to get a word with Musgrave after the incident but he was taken to the infield care center before we could get with him. Benson leads Bodine, Busch, Skinner, Hornaday, Crawford, Starr, Setzer, Crafton and Darnell.

22. Lap 89 - Bodine goes to the outside around Skinner to take second on the restart. Busch follows on the outside to take third. Musgrave gets turned around in turn four and backs into the wall doing major damage to the rear of the truck. Musgrave was inside Crawford and pushed up and like Martin did earlier pinched it low to avoid contact and the truck jumped loose.

21. Lap 86 - Crocker takes her truck behind pit wall and the crew goes under the hood. Benson leads Skinner, Bodine, Busch, Hornaday, Crawford, Musgrave, Setzer, Starr, Crafton, Darnell, Hamilton, Reutimann, Moore, Almirola, Bell, Ragan, Allmendinger, Bliss, McCumbee, and Cook on the lead lap. New Hampshire 200 Race Updates 11-20

09-16-2006  2:50 pm

20. Lap 83 - Reid crashes hard in turn one to bring out the sixth yellow. There is damage to the rear that appears will end his day. Reid and Hamilton made contact, turning Reid around and sending him into a spin into the turn one SAFER barrier.

19. Lap 79 - Benson leads Skinner, Bodine, Busch, Hornaday, Crawford, Setzer, Crafton, Musgrave, Starr, Darnell, Hamilton, Jr., Moore, Reutimann, Bell, Almirola, Ragan, Crocker, Allmendinger, Bliss, and Cook on the restart.

18. Lap 70 - Benson leads Skinner, Hornaday, Busch, Bodine, Crawford, Setzer Crafton, Starr, Musgrave, Darnell, Gaughan, Hamilton, Cook, Miller, Almirola, Moore, Martin, East, Bliss, Bell, Crocker, and Reutimann to the restart. Skinner now starts to pressure Benson for the lead as they start to pile up on the backstretch. East, Cook, Gaughan, Martin and involved. Martin has damage to the nose and is able to drive away.

17. Lap 68 - Bowyer pits as the team tries to diagnose the trouble. Bliss also pits after reporting a loose wheel on the last caution. Martin was racing side by side with Musgrave for position when his truck pushed up and rather than make contact with Musgrave, he pinched it low and lost control. Lead lap trucks all stay out.

16. Lap 65 - Crawford looks inside Bodine in a battle for fifth. Bowyer is now the last truck on the lead lap 16 seconds behind the leader. Martin spins off turn two to bring out the fourth caution. Martin has damage to the rear bumper of the truck but it appears to be cosmetic only.

15. Lap 61 - Bowyer drops off the pace, complaining to the team that he has no power in the engine. They have asked him to change ignition boxes . He is losing positions and will soon drop off the lead lap.

14. Lap 55 - Restart. Benson continues to lead. Three-wide racing in the pack as Busch, Allmendinger, and Ragan all come together, with Busch dropping to sixth as a result. Benson leads Skinner, Bowyer, Hornaday, Bodine, Busch, Crawford, Setzer, Gaughan, Crafton, Starr, Musgrave, Darnell, Hamilton, Martin, Cook, Almirola, Miller, Moore, East, Bell, Bliss, Reutimann and Crocker.

13. Lap 50 - Benson makes a move for the lead. Hornaday takes over fourth while Sprague comes back to the pits. Debris again spotted on the track and the caution is out for the third time. Sprague has a flat left front tire. Crocker receives the free pass.

12. Lap 45 - Pit stops for the lead lap trucks. Martin has a jack get wedged under the left side of his truck and he drags it around for a lap before he comes down to his stall so his team can remove it. Bowyer leads Benson, Skinner, Busch, Hornaday, Bodine, Crawford, Setzer, Crafton, Gaughan, Hamilton, Starr, Darnell, Musgrave, Bliss, Cook, Almirola, Miller, Moore, East, Martin, Bell, and Reutimann. Martin must restart from the tail of the longest line for removing pit equipment.

11. Lap 41 - Bowyer now leads after overtaking Benson on lap 38. Bowyer leads now by a full second over Benson, Skinner, Busch, and Martin as the yellow comes out for the second time of the day for debris in turn two. Reutimann, who had fallen off the lead lap with the damage to the left front of his truck, receives the free pass. Ambrose had just lost a lap with an unscheduled stop. McCumbee, Earnhardt, Allmendinger, Crocker, Ragan, Reid, Dodson, Sprague, Stout, Ambrose, and Chaffin are all still running but off the lead lap.

Lester and Richardson Done

09-16-2006  2:48 pm

The damage to the No. 22 Toyota and the No. 1 Chevrolet is too severe for either driver to continue and both Bill Lester and Robert Richardson are done for the day.

New Hampshire 200 Race Updates

09-16-2006  2:17 pm

10. Lap 27 - Bowyer and Skinner are still hard at it for the second spot which has allowed Benson to move ahead to a one second lead.  Bowyer finally clears Skinner to take the spot with Musgrave fourth, Busch fifth, Bodine sixth, Hornaday seventh, Martin eighth, Gaughan ninth, and Hamilton, Jr. tenth.

9. Lap 15 - Three wide for the lead as Skinner and Benson make contact through turns three and four.  That allows Musgrave and Busch to close in and make it a five truck battle for the lead.

8. Lap 12 - The damage to Reutimann's truck is result of contact with Sprague.  Sprague was black flagged and brought to pit road to remove the rear bumper cover which was dragging the track.  Sprague is a lap down in 34th.

7. Lap 11 - East has dropped back to tenth from his third starting position.  Reutimann has damage to the left front fender which is giving him problems.

6. Lap 8 - Busch cracks into the top five as Hornaday and Crawford battle side by side for tenth.  Reutimann is having problems and is dropping back through the field.

5. Lap 6 - Restart.  Benson leads as Skinner dips inside charging into turn one.  Benson keeps momentum in the high groove and holds the lead and Bowyer now looks to challenge Skinner for second.

4. Lap 1 - Benson leads the first lap, but Lester spins taking Almirola into the wall with him. Richardson has no where to go and piles in. All three trucks are heavily damaged. Benson leads Skinner, Bowyer, Musgrave, and Hamilton, Jr. as we are under caution for the first time today.

3. One to go signal given. Field is now bunched behind the pace truck and ready to go for the green.

2. Three pace laps before we get the green. The field is just now completing its first lap behind the pace car, setting pit road speed.

1. Engines have been fired. Allmendinger (backup truck), Earnhardt (engine change) and McCumbee (transmission change) will drop to the back for the start.

Allmendinger to Lester's Backup

09-16-2006  12:46 pm

After his crash in qualifying, A.J. Allmendinger will run Bill Lester's backup truck in the race. Members from all three Bill Davis Racing crews were seen assisting to get the now white No. 24 Toyota ready. Allmendinger will drop to the tail for the start.

Engine Failure Stops Earnhardt in Qualifying

09-16-2006  12:44 pm

Kerry Earnhardt didn't turn an official time in qualifying due to engine failure on the No. 13 ThorSport Racing Chevrolet. "We had a vibration yesterday that we couldn't ever find," Earnhardt said. "Now we know what it was. We're happy it happened when it did. If it had waited three more laps it would have happened on the first lap of the race." Lance Hooper and the ThorSport crew have already swapped out the engines and have the truck in the staging area in the NCTS garage.

Progression of the Pole

09-16-2006  9:38 am

Aric Almirola, out first, 29.979 seconds/127.049 mph, starts 22nd
Clint Bowyer, out fourth, 29.539 seconds/128.041 mph, starts 5th
Mike Skinner, out 16th, 29.383 seconds/129.626 mph, starts first

Allmendinger Crashes on Second Qualifying Lap

09-16-2006  10:10 am

A.J. Allmendinger turned in a solid lap on his first of two timed qualifying laps, but spun coming off turn two and impacted the tire barriers on the inside of the speedway. No report as of yet on how bad the damage is, if it will necessitate a move to a backup truck or if it can be repaired. In any case, since the trucks are impounded after qualifying, he will be forced to the back of the field one way or the other. Any repairs would be considered unapproved adjustments and since he took the green flag on a qualifying lap reverting to the backup truck would also mean going to the back of the field.

Bad Day for Bodine in the Mods

09-16-2006  9:04 am

Well, the good thing is that it can only get better. The bad thing is Todd Bodine finished 40th in yesterday's New Hampshire 100 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Engine failure sidelined the Bo-dyn Bobsled Project Ford after just 24 of the scheduled 100 laps. John Blewett III won by just 0.122 seconds over Jerry Marquis. Former NCTS Raybestos Rookie of the Year Mike Stefanik finished fourth. Others with NCTS ties included Ted Christopher in 6th, Chuck Hossfeld in 14th, Steve Whitt - driving for former NCTS team owner Dick Greenfield - in 20th, and Ken Bouchard in 25th.

Good Morning! Race Day at NHIS

09-16-2006  8:57 am

Good morning everyone! It is raceday here in new Hampshire, and the weather couldn't be more different than yesterday. While there is some patchy fog throughout the region, the sun is burning bright above and the fog is expected to burn off throughout the morning and give us a beautiful clear afternoon come race time.

The teams are busy pushing the trucks through final inspection prior to qualifying, which is scheduled for 9:30 am ET. After the 2-lap qualifying runs, the trucks will all be impounded prior to the 2:15 pm ET green flag of the New Hampshire 200, round 18 of 25 in the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.

We will be here for all of the action throughout the day, so while you're enjoying your Saturday morning off from work, stop by and check out what's going on from here at NHIS. Don't forget to follow all of your favorite NCTS drivers as they roll for the pole at 9:30 am ET in our exclusive Live! Bud Pole Qualifying coverage.

Ground Pounders Up Next

09-15-2006  5:02 pm

The ground pounders of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour are up next for their 100-mile event. Todd Bodine is slated to roll from 39th in the 41-car field. We're going to call it a night for now from NHIS, but we will be back bright and early as we prepare for Live! Bud Pole Qualifying coming your way at 9:45 am ET. What better way to spend your Saturday morning, with breakfast and Truck Series qualifying! That's all for tonight, see you all tomorrow. So long everybody!

EJP's Caisse to Run for KHI at Dover

09-15-2006  4:56 pm

Former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team Team EJP Racing was based just up the road from NHIS in Gardiner, Maine. While the team ended its involvement in the NCTS after the 2004 season - after sending Denny Hamlin on to much greater success in the NBS and NNCS - team owner Steve Prescott is still very active in backing local racers at many levels. Prescott sponsors Sean Caisse in the NASCAR Busch East Series, and Caisse will start from the pole in tomorrow's 125-miler. Next week, Caisse will make his NASCAR Busch Series debut in a Kevin Harvick, Inc. Chevrolet.

Chaffin Wheels in on Final Lap of the Day

09-15-2006  4:47 pm

The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series just wrapped up it's qualifying for the Sylvania 300 and the final lap of the day put NCTS regular Chad Chaffin in the field. Chaffin's team was on the five-minute clock after a delay getting through inspection and the crew pushed the car the length of pit road to get to the qualifying line. Chaffin was a tenth off on his first lap, but picked up nearly four tenths on his second lap to safely bump his way into the field. Chaffin is making his first start in the No. 59 HT Motorsports Toyota this weekend after the team switched from Fords.

Audio Up

09-15-2006  4:37 pm

We just posted the second batch of audio from here at New Hampshire, including interviews with Rick Crawford, Ted Musgrave, Chase Miller, Todd Bodine, and Terry Cook.

Crawford and Cook both talked about the work they have ahead of them to become the first ever two-time NCTS winner here. Bodine spoke about his race later today in the Whelen Modified Tour, and the Bo-Dyn bobsled project which is the beneficiary of that effort.

Chase Miller is making his first attempt in the NCTS and he ended the day fifth on the speed charts and he talked about his effort and his future in the Truck Series.

Look to the Sights and Sounds Box to the right side the TrackSideLive! page and click on each driver's name to listen. While you're listening to your favorite drivers, feel free to browse our TruckShots gallery, already filled with upwards of 150 images from here at NHIS.

Very Nice, Mr. Hornaday

09-15-2006  4:16 pm

One of the nice things about the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is the continued approachability and access to the drivers. Fans with a garage pass here in New Hampshire have had access to the drivers since practice concluded at 3 pm ET, and many have taken up the opportunity to get an autograph and chat with their favorites.

Ron Hornaday has quite a following everywhere we go, and it's no different here. Hornaday spent several moments with a young man named David Glatter, who is confined to a wheel chair. Talking at the back of his trailer, Hornaday spent several moments convincing David to let him wheel him around the garage area. When David said he didn't trust Hornaday enough to let him do it, it brought laughs from all within earshot.

Hornaday was finally able to convice David to let him, and he gave him a guided tour of the entire garage. Stops along the route included chats with Rick Crawford, the Evernham Motorsports crew where Hornaday's son Ronnie works, and at Terry Cook's transporter.

The end result of the whole situation is a lifetime worth of memories for David and his family and another instance of the drivers in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series proving once again they are truly the finest in American motorsports.

Liberty's Engine Parts are Free!

09-15-2006  2:40 pm

Liberty is always good, especially when you're in a state with the motto "Live free or die". However, when your engine parts are liberated from the confines of the block and get scattered about the racetrack, it's not a good thing. Our little play on words leads us to Garrett Liberty, who just had a dramatic engine failure on the frontstretch to bring us to our first red flag of the final practice. Track crews are attending the vehicle on the track as well as cleaning up a significant fluid spill on the speedway.

Peters Out of the Seat but Not Off the Team

09-15-2006  1:46 pm

Timothy Peters has recently left his ride in the No. 4 Dodge Motorsports Dodge to pursue other opportunities, and his name is already in the rumor mill for current and potentiall open rides. Many times when a driver leaves a team there is some acrimony, but not in this case. Peters is here this weekend with the BHR team and will be Bobby Hamilton, Jr.'s eyes on the roof. An announcement of his future plans is expected shortly.

09-15-2006  1:38 pm

Erin Crocker made contact with the outside wall, apparently damaging the No. 98 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge beyond immediate repair. The Evernham Motorsports crew was seen getting the backup ready to roll out of the trailer. The red flag was out for about five minutes while NHIS track crews inspected the surface, but we are back to green with about 10 minutes left in the rookie session. Aric Almirola leads over Marcos Ambrose, AJ Allmendinger, Erik Darnell and Bobby East.

First Round of Audio Coming

09-15-2006  11:48 am

We have met up with a handful of drivers following the first practice, and we will have their interviews posted shortly. We spoke with Champ Car World Series superstar A.J. Allmendinger regarding his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start, then spoke to his Bill Davis Racing teammate Mike Skinner, who was extremely fast in practice but found the wall late in the going. We also hooked up with last year's pole winner Matt Crafton and talked about his chances to not only sit on the pole but improve upon his fortunes in the race as well. Finally, we got with Marcos Ambrose and spoke with him about the loss of two Australian icons and how he's paying tribute this weekend. Look to the Sights and Sounds Box and click on each driver's name to listen.

Sun Breaking Through the Clouds

09-15-2006  10:45 am

Shortly after the first trucks took to the track, the sun poke through the clouds for the first time all day. There is still a very thick overcast but every now and then the sun finds an opening and bathes the track in sunlight for a few moments. Hopefully it is a sign that the rain that has socked in the Northeast in recent days is breaking up and ready to move out to sea.

Setzer Practicing Pit Entry?

09-15-2006  10:39 am

Early on in practice, Dennis Setzer brought the No. 85 Shell Rotella T Chevrolet down pit road and repeatedly and pulled into the first pit stall before quickly throwing it into gear and speeding off. Setzer has always been known for his fondness for the first pit stall coming onto pit road, winning several races from that position on pit road. Is he practicing his pit entry expecting to have that stall tomorrow?

Looking Ahead to Vegas, Baby!

09-15-2006  10:08 am

While all of the teams are firmly focused on the task ahead here in New Hampshire, there is no question there is some buzz leading up to next week's event in Las Vegas. It is the first race of any type on the newly renovated and now high-banked 1.5-mile tri-oval and speeds are expected to reach upwards of 180 miles per hour. With testing limited leading into the race and as well as next year's NNCS race next March as well, the eyes of the NASCAR world will be firmly affixed to what's going on in Vegas next week. Jeremy Mayfield is one driver trying to get a leg up on the competition by running the Truck race next week in Billy Ballew's No. 15 Chevrolet.

In addition, Orleans Racing is hosting an open house on Thursday, September 21st. The event is open to any fan who would like to see the only state of the art NASCAR shop that’s located west of the Mississippi. The Orleans Racing shop is located directly adjacent to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, at 6975 Speedway Blvd. For more information, log on to the team's website at  OrleansRacing.com

Ten Faces in Ten Races

09-15-2006  8:58 am

There have been ten NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races at New Hampshire International Speedway and there's been ten different faces in victory lane. With no repeat winners in the first 10 NCTS races run here, there is an excellent chance we will have an eleventh different winner in 2006.

Ron Hornaday (1996), Dennis Setzer (2000), Jack Sprague(2001), Terry Cook (2002), and Rick Crawford (2005) are the previous winners entered here this week.

Good Morning from NHIS

09-15-2006  8:27 am

Good morning from the New Hampshire International Speedway! It is a gray and overcast day, and there is a threat of rain throughout but as of now the jet dryers are blowing the remnants of last night's rain off the asphalt and track officials are planning on a full day of track activity. It will remain cool with temperatures expected only to reach into the low to mid 60's.

There is much to take place here over the course of the next three days, with the NASCAR Whelen Modifieds, NASCAR Busch East Series, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and the first race for the Chase for the Nextel Cup for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series as well.

Practice for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series kicks off our coverage today and there will be NNCS practice and qualifying plus the Modified and Busch East races as well. We are planning on a busy day, whether permitting, so stick with us!
