Bodine Finished Season Leading What Counted (External Link)
Todd Bodine's 2006 Craftsman Truck Series championship was the culmination of two front-running seasons. Last year Bodine finished third in the point standings, behind champ Ted Musgrave and Dennis Setzer, despite leading the series in wins, top-five finishes and top-10s. This year, however, there was little doubt from the get-go that Bodine was focused on the ultimate prize.
By the Numbers: Truck (External Link)
No matter how many people tried to convince Todd Bodine he had the 2006 Truck Series championship in the bag, he never believed it. Bodine entered the season finale needing to finish 28th or better to clinch the title, and when Johnny Benson had early problems with a spin, Bodine shifted to cruise. He had his second-worst finish of the season at Homestead, but it was plenty enough to allow him to take home the first championship of his NASCAR career. (David M. Vaughn Photo)

Season Marked with Consistency and Return to Victory Lane for Cook
Terry Cook looks back on the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season and notices two things: the first is the No. 10 Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International team's win at the Kansas Speedway in July. The second is an incredible streak of consistency that saw the team rack up a total of three top-5 finishes, 12 top-10 finishes, lead 65 laps, and complete an incredible 4,076 out of 4,079 possible laps throughout the year. "The most memorable moment of the year of course is the win at Kansas in July," Cook said. "We had some trouble early in the race and had to come down pit road with a flat tire. The pit crew did a great job getting it changed and we only lost one lap. We got a quick caution and we were the Lucky Dog to get back on the lead lap. The truck was so good we just methodically worked our way back to the front." (David M. Vaughn Photo)

Championship Validation: Bodine, Germain's and Hillman's Proud of the Total Team Effort

Nicole Addison: Defying the Odds
Nicole Addison, rear tire changer on the No. 10 Power Stroke Diesel by International race team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, gets a lot of attention for being the first female over the wall crew member in NASCAR's top three divisions. Although her chosen profession and accomplishments set her apart from most women, for Nicole, reaching this level in the racing profession has even deeper meaning because of what she went through to get here. Born in Tucson, Ariz., Addison experienced a childhood most parents hope and pray against. When she was six years old, Addison was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer and was given just five years to live. Unable to take the drugs prescribed to her, Addison and her family could only wait for fate to step in. "I don't remember much about it," Addison says now. (Drive For Diversity Photo)

Crocker Looks Ahead to Final Races of 2006
TruckSeries.com's Charles Krall Interviews Erin Crocker and Ray Evernham -
Erin Crocker has been under intense media and fan scrutiny during her entire rookie season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Not only is she a female driver, which always draws added attention, she's the only female to win in one of the toughest forms of racing in the country - the World of Outlaws sprint car series. The icing of the cake is that she drives for one of the most potent minds in all of NASCAR, Ray Evernham. Evernham is truly a NASCAR genius. After giving up the steering wheel in his own driving career, he moved south and was the lead mechanic for the IROC series for many years. From there, he joined forces with Jeff Gordon and rewrote the history books. The next step in Evernham's storied career has him as a team owner, and with six victories in the books with Kasey Kahne at the wheel of his Cup Series Dodges, it's obvious his prolific skills have translated from the chief wrench to the chief executive.

Hamilton, the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion and a four-time winner in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, has spent every year since 1989 as a full-time fixture in the NASCAR community competing as a driver. But for 2006, he would be forced to watch the action unfold from the sidelines rather than the driver's seat. The early stages of Hamilton's treatment were difficult. Still trying to maintain a regular schedule at the Bobby Hamilton Racing shop and traveling to races left Hamilton exhausted. In order to ensure his recovery, Hamilton was forced to cut back his time at the race shop, and stayed away from the track for months. (BHR PR Photo)
