When 'Craftsman For a Cure' was announced earlier this spring, event organizers from Craftsman Motorsports and Bobby Hamilton Racing had no idea what to expect from the first year event. Today, after months of tallying donations and ticket and auction sales, the organizers of 'Craftsman For a Cure' announce that $66,711.83 was raised for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the Victory Junction Gang Camp. "We are extremely happy with the outpouring of generosity from NASCAR fans and industry partners surrounding the Craftsman for a Cure Event," said Scott Howard, manager of sponsorship and sales promotion for Sears Holdings. "It is a true testament to the NASCAR fan base and the sense of community that exists among fans, sponsors, teams, and drivers within NASCAR. We are proud to have been able to support a true champion like Bobby and continue to wish him a speedy recovery."

Dennis Setzer on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Talladega debut - Talladega 250, OCT. 7, 2006:
"It's exciting that the trucks are finally coming to Talladega. We've tested here so much over the years. We've do a lot of wind tunnel dates and we'd always come up to back up the information we've learned and see if our trucks are better. We have a lot of laps here in the Craftsman Truck Series, and fortunately I have a lot of laps here from testing for Bill Elliott back in 1997 and 1998. So it's really fun to come back here and get to compete at Talladega. I've never been bored here. I've done the late model stuff, and just had a couple of guys work for me and we didn't have enough of a team. So it was impressive to then come here testing for Bill Elliott, and to have two or three crew chiefs and 20 guys waiting to make a change on these things." (Talladega Superspeedway PR Photo)

In typical NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series fashion, the championship points battle is intensifying as the series heads towards its fall finale. Todd Bodine, driver of the No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota continues to lead, but his once-mammoth margin of 182 points, which he held after the 15th race of the season at Indianapolis, has been cut in half thanks to Johnny Benson's performances in the last four races. Benson, No. 23 Toyota Certified Used Vehicles Toyota driver, has two wins and two fourth-place finishes in his last four starts. Bodine's 91-point advantage over Benson seems narrow compared to his previous margin, but in put into a historical perspective, it's the fourth-largest margin in series history with six races remaining. Benson says it's been a great season no matter what the points standings reflect. "We have not lost any sleep over the points battle," said Benson. (High Sierra Photo)
