Roush Racing announced today that Matt Puccia has been named Crew Chief of it's No. 50 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ford F-150, beginning with the April 1 event at Martinsville Speedway. The truck will be driven by 'Roush Racing: Driver X' standout, David Ragan. "We've got a lot of confidence in Matt and his abilities, and we feel that he will be a great addition to our program," said Jack Roush.

Glauz Out, Hornaday III in as Truck Director for Crocker -
Evernham Motorsports announced today that the No. 98 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Truck Series team will have a new recipe for success for the remainder of the 2006 season. The team will adopt the leadership approach featuring a team director, car director and engineer used by Evernham's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup teams beginning with this weekend's race at Martinsville Speedway.

Smooth and fast were the words spoken most often Wednesday by drivers participating in a Goodyear tire test on the new racing surface at Lowe's Motor Speedway. NASCAR NEXTEL Cup drivers Bobby Labonte, Scott Riggs, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular Bobby Hamilton Jr. participated in the two-day tire testing session, the first on-track activity since the completion of a $3.5 million repaving project.

War may be hell, but it couldn’t stop Jessica Cherms from buying tickets to Kansas Speedway. The 29-year-old civilian project assistant is assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Camp Liberty, Iraq, about 10 miles west of Baghdad. She’s been in Iraq for about six months and called Kansas Speedway this week to buy two season tickets.

Joe Kruschek, rear tire changer for the No. 26 Roush Racing Ford Fusion, was injured in last Monday’s race in Atlanta during a routine pit stop. Kruschek sustained injuries to both hands when the jack was released while he was still in the process of tightening lugnuts. Kruschek suffered a broken left thumb, a broken right middle finger and a cut right index finger. He successfully underwent surgery on Tuesday, March 21st, in a local hospital in Griffin, Georgia, and was transported back to the Charlotte, North Carolina area by Roush Racing.

NASCAR announced today that Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet, has been fined $10,000 as a result of his involvement in an altercation on pit road after the completion of Sunday’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Mark Martin and Roush Racing have decided to add an additional seven races to Martin’s 2006 Craftsman Truck Series schedule. Martin, who boasts two victories in the first three races of the season, will now run a total of 14 races in the Scotts Miracle-Gro Ford F-150 this season.

Talladega Superspeedway officials announced today that race fans purchasing tickets to attend the Aaron's Dream Weekend April 28-30 will now be able to print them at home. When they arrive on race day, they will be directed to a designated line, where the ticket will be electronically scanned for validation.

Veteran NASCAR crew chief and mechanic Barry Dodson has been named to lead the efforts of the Key Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series organization. Former Richmond International Raceway Vice President of Public Relations Robert “Kenneth” Campbell Sr., who helped promote racing for nearly 60 years in Richmond, passed away late last night. He was 83 and resided in Chesterfield County, Virginia at the time of his passing.

In a unanimous vote yesterday in Nashville, the Tennessee General Assembly granted a proclamation proclaiming May 19, 2006 as NASCAR Day in the state of Tennessee. This decision makes Tennessee the first state with 100% participation at the state government level.

Two professional football league superstars have joined together to form a new racing team. Football hall of famer Gale Sayers and World Champion Most Valuable Player Ray Lewis, along with entrepreneur Mark Bloomquist, have formed The Milestone Company. The operation will run both cars and trucks under its new name: S&L Racing. The team will be headquartered in North Carolina.

Team founder and President Curtis Key is making several key personnel changes within the organization as the team continues to build itself into a contending force in the Craftsman Truck Series with its No. 40 Chevrolet Silverado. Concrete bricks tumbled to the ground at California Speedway on Wednesday afternoon as Speedway President Gillian Zucker drove a CAT 950 Wheel Loader into a souvenir building at Gate 13 to make way for the multi-million dollar Midway redesign. After a quick lesson, Zucker used the machine’s bucket to hit the first concrete brick wall. Seconds later it tumbled down.

A class of approximately 18 Alabama State Trooper Trainees and their instructors have been on site this week, completing segments of the police driving component in their training. The Trooper Trainees have been using roads inside and outside the track - including the infield road course - to simulate high-speed pursuits and other scenarios.

The Milwaukee Mile has taken another step in the direction of recent safety and facility improvements, with the installation of the SAFER Barrier System, an energy-dissipating system that has been fastened to the speedway's existing concrete wall. Coming off its best night ever last week, the gritty, winner-take-all PINKS has been renewed for a third season on SPEED according to VP of Programming Robert Ecker. “Response to the new episodes of Pinks has been overwhelming,” said Ecker, co-Executive Producer for PINKS. “The series showed continued ratings growth while in repeats over the winter, and Season Two is delivering very significant increases in household ratings and in all our key demographics."

Sometimes the calendar can stop momentum cold but not in 2006 and not for Todd Bodine and his No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota team. Bodine closed out 2005 with three consecutive victories and hated to see the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season end at Homestead-Miami Speedway. His Germain Racing team, assuming its late-season record would put a figurative bulls-eye on the tailgate of Bodine's yellow and black Tundra, refused to lose its edge during the winter months. Bodine's March 17 win at Atlanta Motor Speedway followed a pair of runnerup finishes - both to Mark Martin driving the No. 6 Scotts Ford - and further established the 42-year-old New Yorker as the driver to beat for this year's title. Bill Lester started the Golden Corral 500, a day later than scheduled due to rain, from the 19th position after an impressive qualifying run on Friday night at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. With a goal of finishing all 325 laps, Lester came close to accomplishing that as he would finish the event in the 38th position, six laps down from the race winner, but with a tremendous amount of experience from his career-first NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race.

This weekend marks the 2006 debut of Ron Hornaday in the No. 33 Outdoor Channel Chevrolet at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway (BMS). Hornaday will drive the Outdoor Channel Monte Carlo SS in 13 races this season. Hornaday, who also drives the No. 33 KHI Silverado in the Truck Series, has 158 career Busch Series starts and four Busch Series wins to his credit. Hornaday made his last Busch Series start in 2005 at Phoenix International Raceway.

On March 13, 2006, the National Stock Car Racing Commission heard and considered the Appeal of MRD Racing. The appeal concerned three penalties issued by NASCAR following opening day inspection on Feb. 22, 2006 for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at California Speedway. The infractions concerned Section 12-4-A of the NASCAR Rule Book "Actions detrimental to stock car racing" and Section 12-4-Q "Any determination by NASCAR Officials that the truck, truck parts, components, and/or equipment used in the Event do not conform to NASCAR rules: unapproved carburetor main body modification." With no speedway experience and limited sponsorship, Timothy Peters in last year's No. 04 Bailey's Dodge was unable to run a complete NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule in 2005. However, Peters, now in the No. 4 Dodge Motorsports Dodge doesn't believe the past season in which he finished second to Raybestos Rookie of the Year Todd Kluever was wasted. Far from it. It's no secret that top-level car owners are reaching deep into the junior leagues of racing to seek out their next star. Some Driver Development Specialists and Scouts have been summoned to keep tabs on drivers who might be making noise in Quarter Midgets, Karts, Legends and Bandoleros. In addition, there is great interest in drivers who are currently competing in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series, as well as, ARCA and Hooters Pro Cup.

The resurfacing of Lowe's Motor Speedway marks the third time the entire 1.5-mile oval has been repaved since the track opened in 1960. Including design, surveying, safer barrier removal and re-installation, track milling, repairs to the concrete retaining walls and paving, officials estimate the resurfacing project will require 25,000 to 30,000 man hours.

When Jeff Burton rolled to a NASCAR Nextel Cup pole position in qualifying for the Daytona 500, a lot of people wanted to know what Richard Childress Racing was doing different under the hood of Burton's Chevy Monte Carlo.
