Fresh off his fourth-place NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series finish at California Speedway, David Reutimann travels to Troutman (N.C.) Joey Miller (No. 12 Curb Records Toyota) has a couple of goals in mind for the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. One will follow the other. Miller hopes to join Darrell Waltrip Motorsports teammate David Reutimann (No. 17 Team Tundra Toyota) as the Raybestos Rookie of the Year, an award Reutimann won in 2004. That will fulfill goal No. 2 when Miller, 21, would become the series' youngest competitor to be named the top rookie. That honor currently belongs to 2004 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series champion Kurt Busch, the series' 2000 Raybestos Rookie of the Year at age 22 years three months; Miller won't celebrate his 22nd birthday until next January. Thirty-three years after his career ended, the legacy of Wendell Oliver Scott continues to stand proud. Scott was the first African-American driver to win a race in one of NASCAR’s national series. His triumph, in December 1963, marked the high point for a man who made almost 500 career starts in NASCAR’s premier division.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) announced today that Kerry Tharp will manage public relations for NASCAR’s three national racing series and the weekly and touring series. In his new role, Tharp will be responsible for all at-track media procedures, public relations for the Research and Development Center and NASCAR media events in Charlotte, N.C.

FOX Sports and Darrell Waltrip have agreed upon a multi-year contract extension that expands the top-rated NASCAR network’s relationship with the sport’s premier analyst into the new television rights contract that commences with the 2007 season. The announcement was made today by FOX Sports Chairman David Hill and FOX Sports President Ed Goren.

The NHRA roared back to life in Pomona two weeks ago. NASCAR waved the green flag on a new season in Daytona last weekend. And at Memphis Motorsports Park, expectations – and RPMs – will be running high this weekend, too, when the track officially opens its 2006 season with a Test-N-Tune session at the drag strip on Saturday, and the first round of the E.T. Bracket Racing Series on Sunday.

Judy Kouba-Dominick has won NASCAR’s PR Rep of the Year Award for her public relations work for General Motors last year in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Kouba-Dominick, a trackside communications manager working for GM, received the award at the NASCAR PR Summit at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 14. “Judy is an extremely talented and dedicated public relations professional who has earned tremendous respect in the racing community,” said Mark Kent, director of GM Racing.

NASCAR’s new statistical package using data from NASCAR’s scoring loops, in partnership with sports statistics experts from STATS LLC, provides in-depth insight detailing much more than just who won the race. Each week, usually on Monday, NASCAR will offer specific insight into the previous weekend’s races using this new data. JC Stout spent Valentine’s Day this year differently than in years past. The driver of the No. 91 NASCAR Craftsman Truck proudly attended the Hunter’s Day of Hope for Children celebration held in the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse in Orchard Park, NY. Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly shares his Valentine’s Day birthday with his only son Hunter for whom the event is named. Succumbing to the affects of Krabbe Disease, Hunter passed away before celebrating his ninth birthday with the community last Tuesday.

NASCAR announced today that STATS LLC, the world’s leading sports information provider, will be creating and analyzing new, in-depth racing statistics designed to enhance how its racing series are viewed and enjoyed. For the first time ever, NASCAR is utilizing its “loop data” to help provide a more complete picture of the exciting action that occurs during every lap in America’s second most popular sport on television. Marcos Ambrose, driver of the No. 20 Ford F-150, is set to add some international flavor to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season when he pilots one of the two new entries for Wood Brothers/JTG Racing. As I packed my bags for Daytona, a few questions came to mind about the upcoming 25-race season. While we will have to wait until almost Thanksgiving to find out the answers, here are a few things I would like to know

2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion, Ted Musgrave took his first laps in the Crown Royal IROC cars. This is my first time ever in the IROC cars and I'm always telling people how much fun the Truck series is, but this kind of tops it," said Musgrave. The state's premier sports entities announced today they are joining forces to present "Alabama Speedweek" April 21-30, 2006, featuring two weekends of racing and 432 holes of golf in-between. Barber Motorsports Park, Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and Talladega Superspeedway have come together to promote the Alabama Speedweek concept, which begins with the Honda Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park April 21-23 and concludes with Aaron's Dream Weekend at Talladega Superspeedway April 28 - 30.

To allow women some proximity to their loved ones during events, Darlington Raceway constructed a special seating area during the 1960s in the track’s infield. Located inside Turn 2, this structure came to be known as the “Wives’ Grandstand.”

The ninth annual Ricky Craven Charity Snowmobile Ride raised $135,000 Saturday, January 28 despite some challenging weather conditions. The trek, primed and prepared by the Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club, took over 180 riders on a 35-mile trek through the Moosehead Lake area of Maine. Many drivers say that racing is in their blood, but in the case of rising young NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series star Kyle Krisiloff, it is definitely true. The son of former Indy Car driver Steve Krisiloff, this 19-year-old truly descends from one of racing's most famous dynasties. His family owns both the Indy Racing League and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a facility his great-grandfather Tony Hulman purchased at the end of World War II. Today, his grandmother Mari Hulman George is the Chairman of the Speedway and his uncle, Tony George is President and CEO of the Indy Racing League. Born and raised in Carmel, Ind., just outside Indianapolis, Krisiloff began his racing career when he was just 2 ½ years old. "I actually can't remember not competing in something," said Krisiloff. Steve May has joined ThorSport Racing as Director of Competition, the team announced on Wednesday. May brings over three decades' worth of experience in big-time racing to ThorSport, one of the longest-running organizations in NASCAR'S Craftsman Truck Series. May has previously worked with Cale Yarborough, Bill Elliott and Geoff Bodine, among others.

Even though he finished third in ARCA RE/MAX Series driver points in 2005, Ken Weaver still has a bit of unfinished business to take care of this season.
