NASCAR announced today that Wally Rogers, crew chief of the No. 33 Chevrolet driven by Ron Hornaday Jr. in the NASCAR Busch Series, has been penalized due to rules violations at Dover International Speedway.

Kyle Busch’s mission when returning to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Billy Ballew Motorsports is to win each event. He found success at Lowe’s Motor Speedway a couple weeks ago and looked to repeat with another victory at Dover International Speedway this past Friday until a penalty for a missing hood pin cost him a chance at defending his Dover crown from a year ago.

The high-banked concrete one-mile oval at Dover International Speedway has been tagged as the Monster Mile and for good reason. The cement surface puts drivers in one of two categories, they either like it or they hate it. The pilot of the Circle Bar Truck Corral Ford F-150 loves it and it showed from the time the team rolled their Ford off the hauler. The team was consistently in the top 10 in practice speeds and they posted a 4th place starting position. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Although they were poised for a top-10 finish in the AAA Insurance 200, Mike Skinner and his Team Tundra crew left Dover International Speedway with a 22nd place finish, after the left front tire of the No. 5 truck went flat with less than 10 laps remaining in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event.

|
Bill Lester marked the event at Dover International Speedway on his calendar as a race he believed his No. 22 Toyota Tundra team could win after its performance at the one-mile track in 2005. It appeared Lester was in a position to battle for the victory in last year’s Dover event, but with less than 30 laps to go, the No. 22 truck was eliminated by two other competitors fighting for position in front of him.

The No. 23 Toyota Certified Used Vehicles Toyota Tundra team has been on a roll. In the past 12 races, the team has compiled six top-five finishes and eight top-10 finishes and only has one finish outside the top 15. Benson currently sits fourth in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points, less than 100 points out of third. Needless to say, the team has it going on. (High Sierra Photo)

It was a tough finish for Ted Musgrave and his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra Team as they had to overcome a bad set of tires to finish Friday's AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway in the 18th spot.

Martin Takes Third of 2006 in Dover
06-02-2006 | Charles Krall, TrackSide Editor
Mark Martin was the beneficiary of Kyle Busch's misfortune and capitalized on
it to take his third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory of the 2006 season in
the AAA Insurance 200 Friday at Dover International Speedway. Martin ascended to
the lead when Busch was black-flagged for a loose hood pin, sending him to pit
road and out of contention.
Martin led in the middle stages of the race, but Busch flexed his muscles and
took the lead just past the halfway point and looked to have a solid chance at
repeating his 2005 victory in Dover. But on lap 133, NASCAR posted his number
and called him to pit road. Busch stayed out for four laps hoping to catch a
caution, but it never came and he was forced to make a green flag stop to
reattach the loose hood pin. Martin took over the top spot on lap 137, and
except for an exchange of pit stops during the final caution of the afternoon
for Kelly Sutton's crash, he led the rest of the way unchallenged in the No. 6
Scott's Ford.
"It's great to win with this Scott's F-150 here in Dover," Martin said. "I've
picked up some unique trophies in my career, but never a Monster like this one.
They weren't giving these out when we were winning here with the Cup car."
Martin was comfortably ahead of teammate Carl Edwards at the checkered flag.
Edwards, making a rare one-off start in the third No. 50 Roush Racing Ford,
charged through the pack after a long pit stop under the last caution to finish
second and give Roush Racing it's first one-two finish since Martinsville last
fall.
Behind Edwards at the finish was current series championship leader Todd Bodine.
Bodine's No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota was in the middle of a heated battle
for position over the final 20 laps.
Mike Bliss was fourth in the No. 16 IWX Motor Freight Chevrolet and pole sitter
David Reutimann rounded out the top-five in the No. 17 Team Tundra Toyota.
Johnny Benson finished sixth in the No. 23 Toyota Certified Used Vehicles
Toyota, last week's winner in Mansfield Ron Hornaday was seventh in the No. 33
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Chevrolet, Rick Crawford was eighth in the No. 14
Circle Bar Motel and RV Park Ford, Jack Sprague was ninth in the No. 60 Con-Way
Freight Toyota, and Kyle Busch made it all the way back to the lead lap and
tenth at the finish in the No. 51 National Land Liquidators Chevrolet.
There were 10 lead changes among five drivers, with Martin picking up the 10
bonus points for leading the most laps (86). Other lap leaders included Bliss,
who led two laps on pit road under caution, Reutimann, who led twice for 18
laps, Busch, who led twice for 85 laps, and Bobby Hamilton, Jr., who led 9 laps
in the early stages of the race in the No. 18 Fastenal Dodge.
There were 4 caution flags for just 18 laps on the afternoon. Scott Lagasse and
Kraig Kinser each had separate incidents on the backstretch, while Kelly Sutton
had the most serious incident of the day when she slammed the inside wall in the
frontstretch on lap 160. No one was injured in any of the incidents throughout
the afternoon. The few cautions on the day allowed the race to run at a record
pace, with Martin's average speed on the day 120.200 miles per hour.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series moves on to Texas Motor Speedway for the Sam's
Town 400. TruckSeries.com will have complete event coverage, including practice
and qualifying updates in Thursday June 8, and pre- and post-race coverage on
Friday June 9.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series point's leader, Todd Bodine finished Fridays AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway with a strong third place finish. In an exciting final 20 lap battle for position, Bodine did all he could to catch Edwards and race winner, Mark Martin - but lap traffic made it tough for Bodine to close in on Edwards and Martin. Kyle Krisiloff was looking forward to his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Dover International Speedway this past Friday. A 27th place finish wasn’t what he had in mind for the No. 15 ditech.com/Krud Kutter Chevrolet, but Krisiloff struggled with the handling a bit and with very little attrition, was all he could muster at the conclusion of the AAA Insurance 200.

Bobby East started 15th in the AAA Insurance 200 in his State Fair Corn Dogs/Edy's Dibs Ford F-150 at Dover International Speedway Saturday and finished 17th. "I can't say enough about this race team. We've come so far as a race team in the last couple months. We're running on the lead lap and finishing races. That's a significant step, especially for a first-year team."

Marcos Ambrose started 12th and finished 26th at the AAA Insurance 200 last Saturday at Dover International Speedway. "We've come a long way in the last two races. Our goal each week is to finish races and learn as much as we can, and we've accomplished that in our last two races. Dover was a tough racetrack, especially since I had never seen it before we practiced on Thursday."

Jack Sprague and the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota team bravely battled the 'Monster Mile' and the handling of their race truck at Dover International Speedway this weekend to come away with Wyler Racing's fifth top-10 finish of the season. "I'm not disappointed with this finish at all," Sprague said. "We really had to work on our truck this weekend because we couldn't find just the right set-up, but the guys didn't give up." For Roush Racing, the beat goes on - and on and on. Mark Martin's AAA Insurance 200 victory at Dover International Speedway marked the 40th time a Jack Roush-owned entry has been the winner of a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event. That's three more wins than posted by the now-defunct Ultra Motorsports team and a whopping 21 better than the next highest total by an active series team, Bobby Hamilton Racing. (Ronda Greer Photo)

“I am just getting more comfortable in my equipment. I have had more opportunities to run these mile-and-a-half intermediate tracks now that I am in my second year with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series."

Team Australia’s Marcos Ambrose has finished 26TH in the eighth round of the NACSAR Craftsman Truck Series at the Dover International Speedway in Delaware today. Ambrose again highlighted his potential in qualifying setting the fastest Rookie lap of 23.701 seconds, which was the 12th fastest time overall. Unfortunately, an unapproved adjustment during the impound period saw him drop to the rear of the grid.

|
|
Brendan Gaughan settled for a 19th place finish at Dover International Speedway but with just a single well-timed caution that result could have been much, much better. Gaughan counts Dover among his favorite places to race and when he climbed into the No. 77 Dodge as it sat 30th on the starting grid he looked forward to the challenge of getting through the field and chasing down the leaders.
|
|
|
Bobby Hamilton Jr. made a mad dash to the front of the field at the start of the AAA Insurance 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Dover. Hamilton Jr. started his Fastenal Dodge in the fifth position, picked off two spots on lap one and stormed to the lead by lap 15. Unfortunately a strong run faded with a loose chassis late in the event. Despite his handling woes, Hamilton Jr. was able to salvage a 13th place finish. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Erik Darnell headed to Dover knowing the reputation that the "Monster Mile" has for tearing up equipment and testing the abilities of even the most seasoned veteran drivers. Having never been to the one-mile concrete oval, Darnell knew that he was facing what could have been his toughest weekend of 2006 thus far.

Mark Martin continued his domination of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Friday scoring a 3.052-second victory over Roush Racing teammate Carl Edwards in the AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway. The victory was Martin's third of the 2006 season and fourth overall dating to 1996 at the old North Wilkesboro Speedway. Martin completed the first sweep of NASCAR's three national series at the Monster Mile where he previously won four NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and one NASCAR Busch Series races. Martin, who led four times for 86 laps in his Scotts Ford, took the lead for the final time on the 165th lap. He blasted past Budweiser Pole starter David Reutimann's Team Tundra Toyota entering Turn 3 following the final of four cautions. (Ronda Greer Photo)

It was an uphill battle for David Starr and the No. 11 Red Horse Racing team at the Dover International Speedway from the drop of the green flag. Despite handling issues and a NASCAR penalty, Starr managed to bring home an 11th-place finish at the ‘Monster Mile’ and remained in the top five in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series point’s standings.
|
|
|
Carl Edwards started off his triple-header weekend at Dover in style, finishing second on Friday in his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start since 2004. Driving the No. 50 Ortho Ford, Edwards started the race in the 17th position, and wasted little time moving to the front of the field.

David Reutimann led twice for 18 laps to earn WIX Lap Leader of the Race honors in the AAA Insurance 200 at Dover. Reutimann took the honor for the first time this season and led a lap for the first time since Gateway in April. "It was a great run. I want to thank Jim Hagedorn and Scotts Miracle-Gro and this team. Man, they were awesome on pit road. We had the long-haul setup on it and we got a lot of green-flag racing, so it really worked out for us today. The thing was really good on the long runs. This thing, we didn't qualify that well, but I told them we set it up to race, and it raced well. This truck racing is the most fun I've had for years and years."

"We're more than satisfied with our finish. We were really bad yesterday in practice. My Tundra was awful - just terrible loose. The guys worked there tails off last night and all morning. We were actually tight today - so we fixed the problem, we just went a little overboard. To come out of here with a third - especially with two to go, I think we were sixth, we got back past those guys to get third.

By the end of Thursday’s long day of practice, rookie driver Ryan Moore, crew chief Barry Dodson and the rest of the Key Motorsports team all believed that they were indeed heading in the right direction in preparation for the AAA Insurance 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Dover International Speedway. Friday morning’s qualifying session proved that they were wrong.

David Reutimann captured his sixth career Bud Pole Award at Dover International Speedway today with a qualifying lap of 23.391 seconds (153.905 mph). Reutimann is 106 points out of first-place in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver's points standings as he prepares to continue his points climb at Dover this afternoon. David Reutimann went out second of 38 trucks and managed to dodge 36 bullets to claim the Bud Pole Award for today's AAA Insurance 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Dover International Speedway. Reutimann ran a lap of 23.391 seconds/153.905 miles per hour in the No. 17 Team Tundra Toyota for his second pole of the 2006 season. Reutimann was also the top qualifier at California Speedway in February. "We had a great truck in qualifying, but the question now is can we do it for 200 laps," Reutimann said. "Kyle Busch and Mike Bliss are very fast, and you can never count out Todd Bodine and Ted Musgrave no matter where they qualify. It should be your typical NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, and any one of the guys out there have a shot to win." (Jenna Wolford/High Sierra Photo)

Kyle Busch, No. 51 Silverado, 2nd in final practice:
"We have a completely different truck than what he had here last year, it is very fast, the same truck we ran at Charlotte this year. Our favorite truck isn't quite fixed yet, but this one looks like it is going to be our new second favorite truck. We are happy with it, was very quick in practice. We made a lot of changes to it and everything seemed to react the right way." (High Sierra Photo)

"I am excited to go back to Dover. We qualified really well there in the Busch car last year. I think we started 9th. We didn't have a very good finish there. It is nice to go back to a track that I have already been on before. That is something that hasn't happened a lot this year. Most of the tracks I have gone to are all new to me. I like the tracks that are high banked and I think we will have a really good weekend."

Gaughan on Dover:
“I love Dover. It is just like St. Louis – a driver’s race track. At St. Louis we had one of those days that was a battle and a war and we ended up finishing 14th as the best Dodge but we ran out of laps. We were battling for it."
|

Team Australia’s Marcos Ambrose has never seen the Dover International Speedway. The track's nickname, however, is enough to make him smile. Known as "The Monster Mile," Dover's one-mile, high-banked concrete oval can be tough on both man and machine.

"Dover is a very special track for me," said Todd Bodine. "I got my very first Busch Series win there. I have been lucky enough to go to victory lane three times there in the Busch series. Any time I am there, whether it's in the Nextel Cup, Busch or Truck Series, I always run well. The racing at the Dover track is different from most other tracks. It's pretty exciting to race on a 1-mile concrete oval, especially in the trucks." (High Sierra Photo)

|
I like racing at Dover," said Musgrave. "It is the type of race track where you have to have your mind set on racing the track, much like Darlington and Bristol. You need a truck that handles very well so you can be aggressive on the track and with your race truck. Dover is not a forgiving race track. You have to make sure you and your race team are on your 'A' game. We will be on our 'A' game this week." (Ronda Greer Photo)

Kraig Kinser and the No. 46 Morgan-Dollar Motorsports (MDM) Silverado team will have the U.S. Army on board when they unload for this weekend's AAA Insurance 200 for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTS) at Dover International Speedway (DIS). This will mark the second time Kinser's truck has flown the Army colors this season.

When you think NASCAR, you think Earnhardt, when you think great food, you think Pork. Dover will enjoy the perfect combination of the two when Kerry Earnhardt and his No. 13 Pork Racing/Chevy Silverado come to town for the Craftsman Truck Series race on Friday, June 2nd. But not all of the action is going to be on the track, thanks to America's Pork Producers who will be Earnhardt's primary sponsor for the Dover race.

Cook on Last Year's Third-Place Finish:
"Coming off a third-place finish there last year, obviously we're looking to two-up that and ultimately have a win this year. We just had a fast race truck from the time we unloaded there last year. The truck was really just set up extremely well."

After a disappointing weekend at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, MRD Motorsports and rookie driver Chad McCumbee are looking to regain their pre-Ohio form at this weekend's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway. Mike Skinner on racing at Dover International Speedway:
“We have had some tough luck at Dover. We had the dominant truck in 2004 and were leading the race when we had to make a green flag pit stop. As soon as we hit pit road, the caution came out and put us a lap down. We got our lap back, made it back to the front with a handful of laps left and finished in the fourth position."

|
Johnny Benson on racing at Dover International Speedway: “Last year after practice, we were really looking forward to the race. But coming off turn two, a couple of people got excited and gathered up about 10 of us, which put us out of the race. I am really looking forward to going back this year. We expected to have a good race there last year and with [crew chief] Rick Ren on board, I think we are going to have a great race this year."

|
|
Bill Lester on racing at Dover International Speedway:
“Dover is one of the most demanding tracks on the circuit. It feels like a roller coaster. It is a bigger version of Bristol. The place really beats you up, since you are pushing a lot of G-forces all day long, and the place is fast. I love racing there. I love concrete surfaces, and Dover is one of those."

David Reutimann is 106 points out of first-place in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points standings leading into Dover International Speedway this weekend. “I don’t know exactly where we were in points last year coming into Dover, but I do know it’s a huge difference,” said Reutimann, who was 17th in the points last season entering The Monster Mile.

This Friday, Joey Miller races his No. 12 Curb Records Toyota Tundra at Dover International Speedway for the first time in his career. "I've never run there before and actually I've never seen the place," said Miller. "The extent of my knowledge about the track is that it is a high-banked fast concrete one-mile track. I'm really excited to go back to another shorter track. Dover is a place where you can lift off the gas." (High Sierra Photo)

Robert Richardson makes his way to the Monster Mile this weekend to take his first run around the one mile concrete speedway in Dover, Delaware with the rest of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers. |
“I really think this Wyler Racing team is primed to have a good run at Dover International Speedway this weekend. I love racing at Dover – there’s a wide racing groove, so there is plenty of room to pass, unlike last week. I almost won a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Dover in 2001, and I came close to winning in the Busch car twice."

|
“In my opinion, Dover really owes me this time around. I’ve finished fourth, third and had two more eighth-place finishes. Last year, we won the pole, and I think we had the truck to beat. We were running in fourth place early in the race, and we got involved in a little scuffle on the track. It knocked the crush panels out, and I ended up inhaling some fumes and getting a touch of carbon monoxide poisoning."

Like most competitors, Wayne Spears had no clear view of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series' future when he added a Chevrolet pickup truck to his NASCAR Grand National, AutoZone West Series championship team in 1994. Marcos Ambrose has never seen the Dover International Speedway. The track's nickname, however, is enough to make him smile. Like most racers, Bobby East grew up on smaller short tracks, many of them carved in dirt. That makes Friday's AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway a unique challenge. "I haven't done a lot of racing on concrete," East said. "And the 24-degree banking on a mile racetrack is unusual, too. This is all new to me."

This Friday’s race at Dover will be Dennis Setzer’s 200th START in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. There are only three other drivers with 200 starts in the series history. "When I first came to the series, I was really attracted to it because it was a short to intermediate track series. But now I think you'd have to say other than a few short tracks we still go to, that this is now a mostly intermediate to superspeedway series much like the Busch and Cup Series are."

Only three competitors have competed in 200 or more NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. Dennis Setzer (No. 85 FlexFuel E85 Chevrolet) will join the exclusive club when the Newton, N.C. veteran starts Friday's AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Raceway. Setzer, a three-time series runnerup, nearly won his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start, finishing second to Mike Skinner (No. 5 Toyota Tundra Toyota) on July 1, 1995 at The Milwaukee Mile. Still hoping to return to the NASCAR Busch Series, Setzer appeared sporadically with a number of teams before becoming a fulltime NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor in 1998. Since then, he's appeared in 183 consecutive races winning 16 times. His career resume includes 70 finishes among the top five and 127 top 10s. The 46-year-old Setzer is second among series money winners with $4,371,681. (High Sierra Photo)
