Good Morning from Dover

06-02-2005  7:58 am

TrackSideLive! presented by Team ASE welcomes you all to Dover International Speedway as we begin preparations for tomorrow's MBNA Race Points 200, Round 8 of the 2005 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. The skies turned gray overnight, with some weather experts saying there is a chance for some showers later in the day and possibly into tomorrow.

The teams are busy unloading and moving their equipment from the paddock to their work areas on pit road. Practice is scheduled to begin shortly after 11 am ET, and we will be here for all of the action. Keep it locked right here for continuing real-time updates from the NCTS garage and much, much more exclusively here at TruckSeries.com.

In the four years when qualifying was held (2003 rained out), there have been four different pole winners, and there has never been a repeat winner.

2002: Pole, Rick Crawford; Race, Ted Musgrave
2003: Pole, Not Held; Race: Jason Leffler

Brendan's Hair

06-02-2005  9:25 am

A lot of fans have taken notice of Brendan Gaughan's hair throughout the 2005 season as it has progressively gotten longer and longer each race.  Well, Brendan promised something radical when we got to Dover and he did not disappoint.

While it is still tucked under a 'do rag, Brendan is sporting corn rows here this weekend.  Could it be a tribute to his college roommate Allen Iverson, who plays for the Philadelphia 76'ers?  Dover is just a short drive from Philly, so who knows?

New Look for the 22

06-02-2005  9:31 am

Fresh of a career-best sixth-place finish at Charlotte, Bill Lester's No. 22 Bill Davis Racing Toyota is sporting new colors here this week.  Lester's team announced this week a deal with Levi Strauss, and the team is sporting a new red-and-white look here this week.

Entry List Updates

06-02-2005  9:36 am

Only 36 trucks are entered here this weekend, meaning all teams entered will make the field for the MBNA Race Points 200.  Some changes to the "normal" entry list...

Timothy Peters is back in the Bobby Hamilton Racing No. 4 Bailey's Dodge.

Bobby Hamilton is again carrying the Tech-Net on his No. 04 Dodge colors this week.

Rich Bickle's name is over the door of the Green Light Racing No. 07 Chevrolet.

Kevin Lepage was named earlier this week to take the wheel of the Green Light Racing No. 08 Chevrolet this weekend.

Charlotte winner Kyle Busch is back in the Billy Ballew Motorsports No. 15 Chevrolet this week, again with sponsorship from ditech.com.

Bill Lester's Bill Davis Racing No. 22 Toyota is carrying Levi Strauss sponsorship this week in Dover.

Wayne Edwards is again in the Mighty Motorsports No. 24 Chevrolet.

Tony Stewart is making a return appearance in the Morgan-Dollar No.47 Chevrolet.

Two-time Dover NCTS top-5 finisher Ken Schrader is also entered in his own No. 52 Chevrolet.

Half an hour to go...

06-02-2005  10:54 am

With thirty minutes remaining before the start of practice, several teams have cleared tech inspection and made their way down to the pit road.  The line at the inspection station has been very busy with several trucks still waiting to go through.

The weather may be an issue later in the afternoon, but for now we are still dry.  The blowers have been out to get the track ready to go and we should be set for an on-time start at 11:30 am ET.

Spotters have been called to the stand, NASCAR has done their safety checks, and we should be green in about half an hour.  Keep it locked right here for continuing updates and timing reports once practice starts, exclusively here at TrackSideLive! presented by Team ASE, only at TruckSeries.com.

Who Ran the Most Laps?

06-02-2005  12:39 pm

It probably should come as no surprise that the rookies turned the most number of laps in Practice 1, with Timothy Peters running 54 laps to lead the session with Todd Kluever in second with 44.  Chase Montgomery ran 34 laps, Ted Musgrave 32, and Tony Stewart 29 laps.  Surprisingly, Bobby Hamilton also ran 29 laps.  Hamilton has practiced very sparingly in each race to this point in 2005, preferring to conserve tires for the race.

Weather update

06-02-2005  12:52 pm

A quick peek at the weather radar shows the nearest band of showers still well off to the south and east, at least 250 miles away.  The forecast calls for a few showers possible this afternoon and evening, with rain in the forecast for the overnight.  Tomorrow looks spotty, but there is a chance the rain could move out in time for the green flag.

Trucks on Track?

06-02-2005  12:55 pm

Trucks are on track...well, wait a second...the track is indeed open for practice, we just don't have any takers!  There isn't even an engine cranked up and down pit road, so we could go a considerable time with a hot track and no one willing to make laps.  We'll let you know if and when someone decides to rock and roll, so keep it locked here to TrackSideLive! presented by Team ASE.

Crawford the first taker...

06-02-2005  12:57 pm

Rick Crawford decided five minutes was long enough to wait and rolled out onto the Monster Mile to get Final Practice up and running.  He's been joined by Robert Pressley, Mike Skinner, and Robert Huffman.

They Said It, Practice 2 No. 1

06-02-2005  1:01 pm

Robert Pressley, No. 59 Dodge: "I am almost wide open all the way around here."

Brandon Whitt, No. 38 Toyota: "That is the best the truck has felt, I just don't know why we don't have any speed."

Bill Lester, No. 22 Toyota: "It's wicked loose right here."

Johnny Benson, No. 23 Toyota: "It feels like the spring is pretty heavy.  I would have problems qualifying like this."

Sun shining down on Dover

06-02-2005  2:57 pm

With weather an issue here this afternoon, everyone here collectively smiled as the sun creeped through the clouds bathing the track in sunlight for the first time all day.  The Busch Series just ended the first of their two practices, and Bud Pole Qualifying is still on target for 5:10 pm ET this afternoon.

Weather Looking Better and Better for Qualifying

06-02-2005  3:43 pm

A quick look at the radar shows the one band of showers that was bearing down on the Mid-Atlantic region now breaking into two systems, with one celll on track to go well north of Dover and the other on track to go well south of the Monster Mile.  We should be all set weatherwise for a dry and quick qualifying session, starting at 5:10 pm ET.

Pressley Announcement for Texas

06-02-2005  3:46 pm

HT Motorsports and driver Robert Pressley are announcing today a new sponsor for the Chex 400 in Texas next week.  Con-Way Trucking will be the primary sponsor of the No. 59 Dodge next week, the first time the company has entered the motorsports arena as a sponsor.  As of now, it is a one-race deal, but all parties are looking at options to possibly continue the relationship in some form or fashion in the future.

Sights and Sounds!

06-02-2005  3:49 pm

Don't forget to keep your eyes on the Sights and Sounds box to the right side of the page.  We have just added several audio clips with more to come, and as of now we have 120+ pictures posted and many more will be added throughout the course of the weekend.  If it happens, we'll let you read about it, see it, or hear it, only here at TruckSeries.com...

All 36 Trucks on the Ground In...

06-02-2005  4:50 pm

With only 36 trucks entered in the MBNA Race Points 200, every team that is in attendance will make the show. Does that make qualifying less dramatic? Well, in one instance possibly...because no one is on the verge of loading up and going home. However, earning a good starting position on the treacherous Monster Mile is extremely important. With trouble often brewing in the back of the pack, look for everyone to try to qualify up front. And with so many drivers so close in practice - 19 within a half second of one another - look for the battle for the Bud Pole to be extremely intense. Busch Final Practice has just wrapped up, the race for the Bud Pole is next!

Qualifying is over...

06-02-2005  6:25 pm

The trucks are impounded and the garage is now closed, but we'll be here for a while yet working on getting some audio to you. Stick around as we bring you our exclusive post-qualifying TrackSideLive! audio!

Driver/Crew Chief Meeting

06-03-2005  12:41 pm

The driver/crew chief meeting is next on the schedule.  We're on our way to check it out, and we'll have the news and notes as soon as it concludes...

Drivers Meeting Notes

06-03-2005  1:09 pm

Here are the notes from the driver's meeting in Dover:

NCTS Director Wayne Auton cautioned all of the teams to be prepared to go on very short notice. "As soon as you hear the jet dryers, get to your trucks for final adjustments. We're not going to hold you to the 2 o'clock thing.  If we don't get any practice on the track before we go racing, we'll give you an extra set of tires and have a caution at lap 25 to check tires," he said.  "Remember to signal your intentions to pit coming out of turn two, and please remember it's very difficult getting on pit road here."

Three pace laps on the initial roll-off...pit road speed is 35 mph; caution truck speed is 45 mph...pit road speed starts at the commitment line, 175 feet before the first pit box, and ends 75 feet after the last pit box...restarts are at the double red line outside of turn four...the minimum speed to stay in competition if there is a problem is 25.93 seconds...

Rain Contingency Plan

06-03-2005  1:16 pm

NASCAR has announced to the teams if we do indeed get rained out today, the race will be rescheduled for 9 am ET tomorrow.  "That's all the plans we're going to tell you," NCTS Director Wayne Auton said, "because we're going to race today.  You all didn't believe me last year at Loudon either, but I think we're going to get it in today."

Dover NCTS Races Summary

06-03-2005  1:45 pm

In five previous races, the average starting position of the winner is 4.6. The pole winner has won twice (2000, 2001) and the lowest starting position of a winner is 10th. David Starr sits on the pole, Timothy Peters starts fourth, Kyle Busch starts fifth, and Steve Park Starts 10th.

Qualifying has been held for four of the five races, with rain putting an end to qualifying in 2003.

There are an average of 9.2 drivers on the lead lap at the checkered flag. There has been 8 drivers on the lead lap two times, 2000 and 2002, and 10 drivers on the lead lap in the other three races, 2001, 2003, and 2004.

The record for lead changes is 10 in the debut race here in 2000. The other races saw 7 lead changes (2001), 6 (2002), and 4 (2003 and 2004). The average is 6.2 lead changes.

The average number of caution flags over 200 laps here is 7. The most was 8, twice (2001 and 2003). The fewest was 6, twice (2002 and 2004). Since you got it the last time, we don't need to tell you there were 7 cautions in the 2000 race here, right?

There is an average of 40 laps run under caution. The most is 43 in 2001, with 42 laps under caution in 2003 and 2004. There were 40 laps under yellow in 2000 and the fewest laps run under yellow, 33, came in 2002.

Makita Sponsoring No. 47 at Dover

06-03-2005  3:14 pm

Makita USA, Inc., manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories, is excited to announce its sponsorship of Tony Stewart in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTS) race at Dover International Speedway on Friday, June 3rd.  Stewart, the 2002 NASCAR Cup Series champion, will drive the No. 47 Morgan-Dollar Motorsports (MDM) Chevrolet Silverado in the MBNA RacePoints 200.

“We’re very excited to be sponsoring such a great competitor as Tony Stewart,” said Brent Withey, Makita’s Marketing Brand Manager.  “Tony is best-in-class in racing, as we are in manufacturing industrial power tools.”

“I love running this truck series,” said Stewart.  “I got a couple wins with Andy Petree at Richmond and had a good run last fall with this team and finished third.  This is a great series to race; you really get to race.  I look forward to coming back and racing for the Morgan-Dollar guys again.

“I appreciate Makita coming on board for this race.  We’ll give it all we can to get them to victory lane.”

Weather Update

06-03-2005  3:16 pm

NASCAR will announce at or around 4:30 pm ET their intentions for the rest of the afternoon.  We are still waiting on the weather window to arrive here in Dover, as it appears the weather system has stalled out with the edge of the rain just to the west of the Dover area.  We do expect it to move out, but timing is the issue.  Will we have a long enough window to dry the track, and even if we do, do we have enough daylight?

Speed on the air...

06-03-2005  4:29 pm

Speed Channel just went live, but all they have to show is raindrops...it's still raining here in Dover.  We'll keep you posted as far as weather and schedule revisions as we get them.

Trucks Delayed Until Tomorrow

06-03-2005  4:34 pm

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series MBNA Race Points 200 has been postponed by rain until tomorrow morning.  The NCTS garage will open at 7 am ET, with the green flag scheduled for 9 am ET.

Good morning from a drying Dover

06-04-2005  7:59 am

The good news is we are indeed going to race today. The bad news is it won't be at 9 am ET. Steady morning drizzle has forced NASCAR to again postpone the MBNA Race Points 200 NCTS race until after the afternoon's NASCAR Busch Series race. Stay tuned and we'll keep you abreast of the updates to the schedule as we hear them.

The rain is a major inconvenience to the teams

06-04-2005  8:01 am

While the rain has been a real pain in the rear-end for everyone, the second postponement of the MBNA Race Points 200 has caused the teams an extraordinary amount of grief. Without a permanent garage area for the NCTS, the teams have been working from the paddock inside the gravel horsetrack before moving down the hill and set up on pit road. The teams had selected their pit stalls yesterday and set up their equipment expecting to be the first race of the day. Now with the change to the schedule, the teams have had to totally disassemble their pit stalls and move their equipment in deference to the Busch teams. Once the Busch race is over, they will again have to totally rebuild their pit stalls for the third time of the weekend.

Speed TV Programming Update

06-04-2005  8:07 am

With the rainout, Speed Channel has realigned their Saturday evening programming. The MBNA Race Points 200 will now be telecast at 7:30 pm ET, replacing NASCAR Live, Formula 1 Decade, and Cars at Carlisle.

Schedule Update

06-04-2005  8:21 am

NASCAR has released a revised schedule that now shows two NASCAR Nextel Cup Series practice sessions before the Busch Series race, the Busch race scheduled for 1:35 pm ET, and the NCTS race now scheduled for an approximate 4:30 pm ET start.

First Cup Practice In

06-04-2005  10:44 am

The first of the two Cup practices that replaced the NCTS on the morning schedule is now in the books. The rain has moved out of the area and we should be good to go the rest of the afternoon. We'll keep you updated throughout the morning and early afternoon.

Trucks Still Impounded

06-04-2005  11:05 am

Even with the rain and the constant moving and relocating of equipment, the Trucks are still under impound until final adjustments are made just prior to the race. The Trucks still sit on pit road, but will be moved to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series garage following the conclusion of their second practice, which is rolling off now.

Cup Practice Over

06-04-2005  12:12 pm

The second of the two Cup practice sessions has now concluded. Next on the docket is the NASCAR Busch Series race, scheduled for a 1:30 pm ET green flag.

Weather Update

06-04-2005  12:13 pm

It is still gray and cloudy here in Dover, but the weather experts guarantee is there is no chance of rain the remainder of the afternoon. Some forecasters even suggest it will be sunny by the time the NCTS race fires off, tentatively scheduled for 4:30 pm ET.

Former Truckers in Cup

06-04-2005  12:37 pm

How did the former Truck Series drivers fare in Cup practice this morning? Former NCTS Dover winner (2001) Scott Riggs was second, while 2000 Dover winner Kurt Busch was 13th. Former series champion Greg Biffle was 18th, with 2002 series titlist Mike Bliss was 23rd. The 2003 series champ, Travis Kvapil, was 27th with Kevin Harvick in 34th. Mike Wallace was 37th with Jason Leffler in 38th.

Sun Shining on Dover

06-04-2005  12:41 pm

The sun has broken through the clouds and is shining down on the Dover International Speedway for the first time since we arrived here on Thursday morning. The clouds are still present, but they have risen considerably in the past hour, and the ceiling is now high enough that helicopters and the Goodyear blimp are now hovering overhead as we near the start of the NASCAR Busch Series race.

Lead Drivers at Dover

06-04-2005  12:48 pm

Here are the NCTS drivers that have led laps in the five previous races at Dover:

D-over time?

06-04-2005  12:53 pm

Only one NCTS race at Dover has ever had to go into overtime. The inaugural NCTS race here in 2000 had a late caution flag that extended the race to 203 laps.

Busch Driver Intros Underway

06-04-2005  1:17 pm

The Busch Series race is next, with the drivers being introduced to the crowd right now. Hopefully the Busch boys can run a quick, clean race and we move into Truck mode relatively quickly.

Final Adjustments

06-04-2005  2:28 pm

The NCTS teams are now making their way to the Cup garage to start making their final adjustments prior to the start of the MBNA Race Points 200.

Each team can send two crew members to the truck to make the following adjustments:

Add/Remove Tape from Grille
Prime Oil System
Open Oil Cooler Valve
Add Water
Start Engine
Set Tire Pressure
Install Radio
Add Driver Water Bottle
Add Maximum Five Gallons of Fuel
Track Bar Adjusted
Shocks Clicked
One Round of Wedge (In or Out)

Teams may NOT:

Jack up the truck
Add or hook up sway bars
Open hood
Adjust rear spoilers
Change tires

First Half of Hornaday's Daily Double Sees Problems

06-04-2005  3:05 pm

Ron Hornaday took over the No. 32 Chevrolet for today's Busch Series race, and with the rainout yesterday had 400 miles in front of him this afternoon. Hornaday's Busch Series adventures took a turn for the worse just moments ago as he spun entering turn three and smacked the outside retaining wall.

Busch's Daily Double Ends the Same Way

06-04-2005  3:08 pm

Another driver doing double duty here today (and triple duty here this weekend) is Kyle Busch. Busch's attempt at double duty today just ended in a similar fashion to Ron Hornaday and he and Kevin Harvick collided on the front stretch and into the wall. Busch apparently went afoul of NASCAR officials after driving his car the wrong way up the front stretch on his way to the garage and has been summoned to the Busch Series offices for a scolding.

Busch Race Done, Trucks FINALLY Up Next!

06-04-2005  3:42 pm

It's 24 hours behind schedule, but it looks as though we have a Truck Series race in the immediate future! The Busch cars have just finished their event with Martin Truex on his way to victory lane. The Busch crews are breaking down their pits and the truck teams are ready to get after it. Keep it locked here for all the Live! coverage of the MBNA Race Points 200.

Congrats to Wally Rogers and Family

06-04-2005  4:04 pm

TruckSeries.com extends our congratulations to Wally and Renee Rogers on the birth of twin daughters on Friday. Rogers is the crew chief on the No. 6 Chevrolet for driver Ron Hornaday. Rogers left Dover to be with his wife, and he will be replaced by team owner Kevin Harvick and his Nextel Cup Series crew chief Todd Berrier for the race this afternoon.

Still Setting Up Pit Road

06-04-2005  4:28 pm

The crews are setting up the pits as quickly as they can. Dover International Speedway officials have cleared the grandstands, which are still empty, so we are still a ways away from going green. We'll give you an update on the estimated start time as soon as we hear it from NASCAR.

Stands Now Filling...Intros Under Way

06-04-2005  4:32 pm

The stands have been reopened, the people are flowing in by the hundreds, and the drivers are crossing the stage for driver introductions. We should be about 20 minutes away from going green. Keep it locked right here to TrackSideLive! presented by Team ASE for all the race action once we go green in the MBNA Race Points 200.

Trucks will roll from the Cup garage

06-04-2005  4:36 pm

NASCAR has instructed the drivers to report to their trucks in the Cup garage. They are gridded in position and will get the command and roll from the Cup garage.

Strapped in and ready to go!

06-04-2005  4:50 pm

The Anthem has been performed, the drivers are strapped in and we are ready to go! Stay right here everybody, we're going to have a good time bringing you all the action from Dover International Speedway...

Race Updates 1-10

06-04-2005  4:51 pm

10. Lap 7 - Hornaday looks inside and then outside in the restart. Cook leads.

9. Lap 6 - Craven came to pit road to replace flat spotted tires. Hines and Pressley also make additional stops. One lap to go signal given to the field. Chaffin comes down pit road for fuel.

8. Lap 5 - Hines also has slight damage to the nose of his machine, and has made two stops to add tape to nosepiece.

7. Lap 3 - Huffman goes to the garage area for repairs. Park, Whitt and Benson also suffered heavy damage. Smith has been able to continue although he has significant damage to the grille of his machine.

6. Start - Hornaday goes three wide with Starr and Cook into turn one on the start, but before one lap is complete, a 5-truck crash on the backstretch brings out the first caution of the day. Steve Park was tagged and sent sideways down the backstretch and the stackup caught up Robert Huffman, Regan Smith, Johnny Benson, and Brandon Whitt. Cook leads, followed by Hornaday, Starr, Busch, and Peters.

5. One to go signal has just been given. Starr, Cook, Hornaday, Peters, Busch, Skinner, Lester, Reutimann, Huffman, and Park are the top-10 for the start.

4. All Trucks are rolling.

3. The Trucks are making their way on to the speedway from the Cup garage. They will take three laps on the roll-off before we go green.

2. Engines have been started.

1. Four drivers will go to the back for the start: Tracy Hines (unapproved transmission change), Jimmy Spencer (missed driver introductions), Chase Montgomery (unapproved adjustment, changed flat tire), and Ricky Craven (missed pre-qualifying inspection). UPDATE: Robert Pressley will also fall to the back on the start (unapproved adjustment, replaced fuel line).

Race Updates 11-20

06-04-2005  5:12 pm

20. Lap 42 - Restart. Hornaday leads Starr and Cook. Cook moves to the ourside of Starr, who gets loose and slides down into the inside wall down the backstretch. The fourth caution of the day comes out.

19. Lap 38 - Pit stops: Hornaday leads Starr, Cook, Busch and Sprague off pit road. Skinner is sixth, with Peters, Lester, Stewart, and Hamilton the top-10. Reutimann, Crawford, Setzer, Musgrave, Bodine, Gaughan, Craven, Kluever, Bickle, Crafton, Schrader, Renshaw, Chaffin, Keselowski, Spencer, and Pressley rounded out the lead lap trucks off pit road.

18. Lap 36 - Sutton again spins off turn four and makes moderate contact with the inside retaining wall. The caution is a huge break for Crafton, Schrader, Setzer, and Lepage who were less than two seconds ahead of leader Hornaday.

17. Lap 33 - Whitt returns to the track with the front bodywork completely removed from his machine.

16. Lap 30 - Hornaday has opened up a half-straightaway lead on Cook and has caught the tail end of the lead lap. Hines, Sutton, Montgomery, and Bickle have been lapped on the track.

15. Lap 23 - Hornaday leads Cook by 10 truck lengths. They have opened up over half a straightaway over Starr in third. Busch is fourth, Peters fifth, followed by Skinner, Stewart, Sprague, Lester, Musgrave, Reutimann, Bodine, Hamilton, Crawford, Gaughan, Crafton, Schrader, Setzer, Lepage, Klever, Spencer, Renshaw, Chaffin, Craven, Keselowski, Hines, Pressley, Montgomery, and Bickle.

14. Lap 19 - The field has now strung out and is single file.

13. Lap 13 - Restart, Hornaday powers around the outside to take the lead. Cook is second. Starr challenges busch for third. Peters runs fifth. Skinner, Lester, Stewart, Sprague and Musgrave are the top-10.

12. Lap 11 - Craven to the tail end of the longest line for speeding exiting the pits. Bickle also comes to pit road. The one to go signal has just been given.

11. Lap 9 - As the field comes to complete the first green flag lap of the day, Sutton breaks loose and slides down the front stretch to bring out the second caution of the day. She did not make contact and has slowly come to the pits with flat front tires. Smith receives the free pass, while Sutton falls a lap off the pace.

Race Updates 21-30

06-04-2005  5:34 pm

30. Lap 86 - How dominant is Hornaday? He is on the same straightaway as Schrader, Crafton, Gaughan, Setzer, Reutimann, Craven, Lester, Skinner, and Peters.

29. Lap 82 - Hornaday leads as he has lapped Starr and Chaffin and is closing in on Musgrave and Crawford.

28. Lap 76 - Benson returns to the race, 75 laps down.

27. Lap 72 - The field is spread all around the Monster Mile. Todd Bodine has moved up to sixth and is the fastest truck on the track.

26. Lap 68 - Busch slides under Cook to take second, with Sprague following him through to third. Cook settles back in fourth.

25. Lap 64 - Skinner, Peters, and Stewart mix it up for fifth. Peters takes the spot with Skinner falling to seventh.

24. Lap 59 - Hornaday leads Cook by 2.1 seconds. Cook has 15 truck lengths on Busch and Sprague. Kluever comes to pit road for an unscheduled 4-tire pit stop.

23. Lap 54 - Edwards retires from the event. Hornaday, Cook, Busch, Sprague, Skinner, Peters, Stewart, Hamilton, Lester and Bodine are the top-10.

22. Lap 46 - Restart. Hornaday leads Cook, Busch, Sprague and Skinner. Busch is closing in on Cook with Sprague close in tow.

21. Lap 44 - Sutton takes her truck to the paddock. Starr pits to have the damage evaluated. Montgomery receives the free pass and rejoins the tail of the lead lap.

Race Updates, 31-40

06-04-2005  5:54 pm

40. Lap 137 - Hornaday has pulled away once again as Hamilton comes to pit road for an unscheduled four tire stop. Busch, Stewart, Bodine, Sprague, Cook, Reutimann, Skinner, Setzer and Peters are the rest of the top-10.

Starr Taken to Local Hospital for Evaluation

06-04-2005  9:04 pm

With all of the incidents here in Dover today, we are very thankful none of the drivers were injured.  However, David Starr was transported to a local hospital for evaluation following the race for carbon monoxide poisoning.  Starr's truck was damaged in an incident on lap 46 when he got loose coming out of turn two and smacked the inside wall on the backstretch.  Not surprisingly the crush panels were knocked out, letting exhaust gasses leak inside the cockpit.
