Bill Davis Racing and Toyota Building Momentum 05-24-2005 8:57 am
Bill Davis Racing and Toyota Building Momentum Toyota, shut out of Victory Lane since October, appears on the verge of ending a sophomore mini slump. Likewise, Bill Davis Racing seems more than ready to join the list of winning teams. Both events almost happened simultaneously at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 20. Mike Skinner, driving Davis’ No. 5 Toyota Tundra, won his second Bud Pole of the season and led 40 laps before a late accident sent the 1995 series champion to the garage. Johnny Benson (No. 23 Toyota West Toyota) and Bill Lester (No. 22 Checkers Toyota), however, gave Davis plenty of reason to smile following the Quaker Steak & Lube 200 by Ticket or Click It. David Starr GM Racing Teleconference Transcript 06-07-2005 4:49 pm
Q. You set a track record at Dover with your qualifying run there. How is that going to carry over to Texas and the Chex 400? "I'll tell you, it's a totally different race track. Dover was fast and Texas Motor Speedway is really fast. It's a shame that we didn't bring home our Chevy Silverado to victory lane at Dover. We got caught up in a little altercation. I guess second or third place was trying to pass me. We got together, and I ended up hitting the inside wall, but we came out of there with an eighth-place finish. I'm looking forward to getting home to the Texas Motor Speedway.

2003 NCTS Champion Kvapil Wins Pocono ARCA 200 06-12-2005 12:50 am
2003 Truck Series Champion Kvapil Wins Pocono ARCA 200 The ARCA RE/MAX Series regulars threw everything they had at him, but in the end, no one had anything for Penske Racing powerhouse Travis Kvapil.  Kvapil, in his career-first RE/MAX Series start, handily won the Pocono ARCA 200 Saturday afternoon at Pocono Raceway finishing just over two seconds of veteran Frank Kimmel.  “It’s kind of cool to come to a series and a racetrack for the first time and have a victory,” said Kvapil. “Obviously we came as probably well prepared as a team could come with Penske Jasper Racing behind me and Kodak on the car. We were here just to get me laps; get me seat time. Every lap I was learning something, trying a little bit different line here or there.” (Streeter Lecka/Getty Images for NASCAR Photo)

Earlier this season, Braun Racing recorded one of its best finishes of the year when the #32 WINFUEL Chevy finished third at Nashville in March, but this time around many things were different. Tough Racing Draws Cup Drivers to the Truck Series 06-14-2005 4:20 pm
Tough Racing Draws Cup Drivers to the Truck Series More and more Nextel Cup drivers are trying their hand behind the wheel of a pickup truck. Already this year drivers Bobby Labonte, Kenny Schrader, Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch, among others, have competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Just what is it about the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series that brings the NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers out to race and leaves the fans begging for more? Maybe it’s the intensity of the competition – the fender-to-fender, close racing action that dominates the race from the drop of the green flag. (High Sierra Photo)

Crafton, ThorSport Racing Surprise Championship Contenders of ‘05 06-15-2005 11:26 am
Crafton, ThorSport Racing Surprise Championship Contenders of 05 Matt Crafton (No. 88 Menards Chevrolet) has a theory about being successful in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition. “This (sport) is a lot about what’s in your head,” said Crafton. The Tulare, Calif., competitor could be forgiven for harboring self-doubt last year after getting his release from Kevin Harvick Inc.’s No. 6 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet despite a fifth-place championship finish. Crafton returned to Ohio-based ThorSport Racing – and he couldn’t be more optimistic. Heading into Saturday’s Paramount Health Insurance 200 at Michigan International Speedway, the 29-year-old Crafton is a solid seventh in the points standings. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Bobby Hamilton Teleconference Transcript 06-21-2005 11:40 am
Bobby Hamilton Teleconference Transcript As far as the competition goes, it just keeps getting stiffer and stiffer. You keep throwing in Toyota – the money, technology they are putting in it, and it’s making all the other manufacturers step up and have to put more and more in it. I think we’ve seen by the way Chevrolet is running the last few weeks, that they’ve definitely stepped up. I’ve always felt like Dodge done it as good as anybody anyhow. As far as what it is going to take, it’s consistency.  (High Sierra Photo)
