Billy Ballew Motorsports Team Rebounds to Capture 11th at Phoenix 11-15-2005 11:32 am
Billy Ballew Motorsports and driver Kyle Busch rebounded from a practice incident on Thursday that resulted in the team unloading the backup truck to capture 11th place in the Silverado 150 at Phoenix International Raceway this past Friday evening.  Even a flat tire during the race wouldn’t diminish their hopes of obtaining a top finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ next to last event of the 2005 season.

Musgrave Sixth at Phoenix, Eyes First Championship 11-14-2005 6:18 pm
Musgrave Sixth at Phoenix, Eyes First Championship Ted Musgrave scored a sixth-place finish in the Silverado 350K at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday, bringing him one step closer to realizing his goal of clinching his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series title. Musgrave controls his own destiny entering the final event at Homestead-Miami Speedway, as he leads the only man who can catch him, Dennis Setzer, by 58 points. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Chevy Silverado 150 - Official Results 11-14-2005 1:22 pm
Todd Bodine in Victory Lane Todd Bodine picked up his fourth win and ninth top-3 finish in the last 14 races by taking the checkered flag in the Silverado 150 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Phoenix International Raceway. Bodine held off hard charges by both Ron Hornaday and Johnny Benson on the final two restarts to take the win and solidify his third position in the championship battle. Bodine's truck bogged down on the restarts when the shifter was sticky as he came through the gears. Benson nearly clipped Bodine on the second to last restart, and Hornaday pushed Bodine from the start finish line all the way down the frontstretch into turn one on the final restart. But once the field turned in a handful of green flag laps, Bodine would stretch his advantage and pull away.

The fight for the championship remains close after Dennis Setzer finished fifth, but he was only one spot ahead of current point leader Ted Musgrave. Setzer fought back from a spin on the second lap which damaged the right front and left rear of his Chevrolet. Quick work by the crew kept Setzer on the lead lap and he methodically worked his way back through the pack to pick up his first top ten finish since he finished second at Loudon in September. Musgrave unofficially leads by 58 points going into the final event of the season next Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Former Phoenix winner Ron Hornaday finished second with Johnny Benson in third. Rick Crawford, who fought side by side with Benson for several laps in the late stages, finished fourth with Setzer in fifth. Musgrave finished sixth with David Reutimann eighth, Matt Crafton ninth, and Mike Skinner in tenth.

There were seven cautions and one red flag on the night. Bobby East and Deborah Renshaw were involved in a hard crash in turn one that saw East pound the outside wall before being drilled in the driver's door by Renshaw. Both drivers were checked and released from the infield care center. Jimmy Spencer was also involved in a hard crash coming out of turn two which ended his night. He too was checked and released. No injuried were reported in any of the other minor incidents on the night.

The 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season concludes next Friday November 18 with the Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Benson Finishes Third at Phoenix With their strong run at the Phoenix International Raceway, Johnny Benson and the No. 23 Toyota Certified Used Vehicles Tundra team is only 22 points out of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series top ten with 2906 points. Kyle Busch Wins, Kvapil Grabs Top-10 in Phoenix Cup Race 11-14-2005 11:41 am
Young Kyle Busch outdueled Greg Biffle in the closing laps of NASCAR's Phoenix International Raceway event on Sunday and went on to win a race his brother Kurt had to miss. Busch took the limelight after brother Kurt was suspended for the remaining two races by his car owner Jack Roush for "circumstances surrounding Kurt's altercation with Arizona police."

Lester, No. 22 Toyota Review: Phoenix 11-14-2005 11:38 am
Bill Lester and the No. 22 Crown Royal Tundra team had a wild week in the desert. The team unloaded their purple and gold truck and struggled to find a comfortable balance in which Lester could race for 150 laps. Lester said the truck was tight in the corners which hindered his speed. The 22 Bill Davis Racing team did not give up and worked feverishly to find a balance which Lester could race.

Skinner, No. 5 Toyota Review: Phoenix 11-14-2005 11:36 am
Phoenix International Raceway is a very special place to Mike Skinner. In his first start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in February of 1995, Skinner claimed his first victory beating NASCAR veteran Terry Labonte to the checkered flag. Since then Skinner added another victory and three more top-five finishes at the one-mile race.

Crafton One Step Closer to Top-10 in Points after Phoenix 11-14-2005 11:13 am
Crafton One Step Closer to Top-10 in Points after Phoenix Matt Crafton had a good weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, driving to a second place finish in Thursday's NASCAR Southwest Series 125-miler and backing it up on Friday with a eighth-place finish in the ThorSport Racing No. 88 Menards/SealBest Chevrolet in the Silverado 150 NASCAR Truck Series race. "It was a good weekend here in Phoenix," Crafton said. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Pressley Finishes 22nd at Phoenix 11-14-2005 11:02 am
Robert Pressley, driving the No. 59 Harris Trucking Dodge, pulled off a 22nd place finish in the Chevrolet Silverado 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. The finishing position was not indicative of the potential that the team showed during the event, however. A poorly timed caution caught the HT Motorsports group in the pits, and thus put them two laps down.

Loose Plug Wire Spoils Sprague’s Night at Phoenix 11-14-2005 11:00 am
With three wins and five poles at the one-mile track, Jack Sprague had high expectations entering the running of the Chevy Silverado 150 at the Phoenix International Raceway. A loose spark plug wire would cut short a top-ten run by the three-time champion and relegate him to a 16th place finish in the 150-lap event.

Renshaw’s Day Ends in Disappointment at Phoenix 11-14-2005 10:58 am
Deborah Renshaw, in the No. 8 Heritage Dodge, has her day end in disappointment after a late race incident during the running of the Silverado 150 at the Phoenix International Raceway. Renshaw chased the handling of the Dodge from the start of the weekend and placed the race truck in the 34th position on the starting grid for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event Friday evening.

Todd Bodine Makes it Two in a Row in Phoenix 11-14-2005 10:51 am
Todd Bodine keeps things rolling in Phoenix as he and his Germain Motor Co./Racers Edge/Ashley Furniture/Toyota Tundra Team collected their second straight win in two weeks and fourth win of the 2005 season in front of an estimated crowd of 30,000.

Hobgood Earns a Top-20 Finish in Phoenix 11-14-2005 10:47 am
It was a good weekend for Justin Hobgood as he brought his No. 9 Germain Motor Co./Ashley Furniture/Toyota Tundra home to a top-20 finish in Fridays Chevy Silverado 150. In just his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career start, Justin showed he had the right stuff, by qualifying his No. 9 Germain Motor Co./Ashley Furniture/Toyota Tundra in the 10 th starting spot.

Lynch Posts Top-20 Finish at Phoenix 11-14-2005 10:45 am
Scott Lynch left Phoenix International Raceway still seeking his first top 10 finish in the Craftsman Truck Series but once again he drew praise from the Orleans Racing team for a job well done. Lynch started the race from 32nd on the grid and after a hard fought 150 laps around the tricky one-mile speedway brought the No. 62 Orleans Dodge home to an 18th place finish.

Gaughan Finishes 23rd at Phoenix 11-14-2005 10:37 am
Brendan Gaughan wanted better than a 23rd place finish out of his visit to Phoenix International Raceway but after a late race spin he realizes things could have ended worse. With Phoenix relatively close to the team headquarters in Las Vegas, Gaughan and crew were spared their customary long journey from home and arrived at the 1.0-mile speedway raring to go.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race Notes: Phoenix 11-14-2005 10:29 am
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race Notes: Phoenix Here's the math and it's pretty simple: Ted Musgrave wins his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship with a 10th-place finish regardless of what rival Dennis Setzer does in Friday's Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Those are better odds than Musgrave faced the last two seasons when neither he nor Setzer was able to hoist the hardware. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Bodine Just Keeps Piling on the Victories 11-14-2005 9:48 am
Bodine Just Keeps Piling on the Victories It may be too late but, for Todd Bodine, it's certainly not too little. Bodine continued his run as the hottest commodity on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Friday night as he won the Silverado 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. The victory - by 1.963 seconds over two-time Phoenix winner Ron Hornaday Jr. - was Bodine's second in a row and third in the Germain Motor Company Toyota team's last five starts. And while Hornaday sought to "rattle Bodine's cage" on a couple of late restarts, the best the former champion could do was dent the leader's rear bumper. Bodine hardly cared about the cosmetic damage as he rolled into Victory Lane to celebrate his sixth series triumph. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Reutimann Grabs Top-10 Finish at Phoenix 11-13-2005 3:39 pm
Reutimann Grabs Top-10 Finish at Phoenix After finishing in seventh-place at Phoenix International Raceway Friday night, David Reutimann is only 10 points outside the top-10 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings with one race remaining. "Our goal is to finish in the top-10 in points and it's within our reach," said Reutimann. "We have made up a lot of ground in the last two races. We finished fifth at Texas last week and seventh at Phoenix this week. I'm optimistic about our chances in the season finale at Homestead this weekend." (Charles Krall/TruckSeries.com Photo)

Miller Finishes 15th at Phoenix 11-13-2005 3:36 pm
In his fourth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start, Joey Miller finished 15th at Phoenix International Raceway in the No. 12 Toyota Tundra Friday night. “We were able to finish the race in one piece,” said Miller. “I think we learned a lot chassis wise during the race. I was a little more comfortable at this track. Every race is a learning experience and we’ve learned some things that we can build on.”

Hamilton, No. 04 Dodge Review: Phoenix 11-13-2005 3:33 pm
Tech-Net/Law Enforcement Torch Run driver Bobby Hamilton raced in the sixth position most of the evening at Phoenix International Raceway in the Chevy Silverado 150 until the fourth caution came out. Then Hamilton lost several spots in the pits when the jack would not go under the right side of the truck placing him at the back of the field for the restart. Because of the heavy traffic Hamilton was only able to pick up one position and finish the race in 17th.

Flat Tire Ends Spencer's Night Against Phoenix Wall 11-13-2005 3:24 pm
Jimmy Spencer and the Team ASE/Ultra Wheels Dodge team used a unique pit strategy to lead some laps in the middle stages of the Silverado 150 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, but a long stretch of green flag racing forced Spencer to pit road under green flag conditions and pinned the two-time NASCAR Nextel Cup Series winner two laps down.

Toyota Triumphs Again at Phoenix 11-12-2005 9:46 pm
Toyota Triumphs Again at Phoenix Todd Bodine captured his second consecutive NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race when he guided his No. 30 Germain Racing Tundra to Victory Lane in Friday night's race at Phoenix International Raceway. The win was Toyota's 12th NCTS victory since the beginning of the 2004 season; the eighth win during the 2005 season. In addition, it was Bodine's fourth NCTS triumph this season, and the sixth victory of his Craftsman Truck Series career. (High Sierra Photo)

Kluever, No. 50 Ford Review: Phoenix 11-12-2005 9:40 pm
Although a 12th-place finish was not what Todd Kluever wanted at Phoenix Friday night, it did help him continue to gain points in his quest to finish his rookie season in the top 10 in the point standings.

Bodine Winner Again in Craftsman Trucks 11-12-2005 12:02 am
Bodine Winner Again in Craftsman Trucks Todd Bodine kept up his torrid, late-season pace Friday night as he charged to victory in the Silverado 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. Bodine drove his Germain Motor Company Toyota away from two-time Phoenix winner Ron Hornaday Jr. following the race's seventh caution flag to win for the second week in a row and third time in his past five starts. Ford Race Notes: Phoenix 11-11-2005 11:50 pm
Ford Race Notes: Phoenix "It was a lot of fun. It was half-mile short-track racing on a mile track. Me and Johnny have raced hard together before. In fact, we raced the same make of car back when we ran short tracks. It was a lot of fun, and that F-150 was built Ford tough. The Roush-Yates engine got me a lot of momentum going into three and he pulled the crossover on me and bumped me a little bit, but we ran side-by-side for quite a while. I gave it all I had. -Rick Crawford (High Sierra Photo)

Toyota Race Notes: Phoenix 11-11-2005 11:32 pm
Toyota Race Notes: Phoenix "Our Tundra was just incredible. The guys did a great job in the pits getting us out first. We had to have that 'clean' air, and once we got out front I knew it was going to be good.  I was trying not to spin the tires on the restarts because I knew that Ron (Hornaday, Jr.) is tough on them (restarts). That was just good Craftsman Truck Series racing." -Todd Bodine (High Sierra Photo)

Dodge Race Notes: Phoenix 11-11-2005 11:21 pm
Dodge Race Notes: Phoenix Ted Musgrave after finishing sixth, taking a 58-point advantage over Dennis Setzer into season final next week at Homestead: "It wasn't great but consistent, consistently tight. We worked on it and worked on it and just wasn't going to get it out of it. Bodine and those Toyotas were pretty fast up front. They've been fast the last half of the season. There ain't no catching them guys. They're in a league by themselves." (High Sierra Photo)

Chevy Race Notes: Phoenix 11-11-2005 11:10 pm
Chevy Race Notes: Phoenix With tonight's fifth place finish and one position ahead of points leader Ted Musgrave, Dennis Setzer sits just 58 points back in second heading to the season finale in Homestead. As a result of contact on lap four of the race, Setzer spun and restarted 34th in the field. Ron Hornaday brought his No. 6 GM Goodwrench Silverado home second. (High Sierra Photo)

Chevy Qualifying Notes: Phoenix 11-11-2005 2:31 pm
Chevy Qualifying Notes: Phoenix Kyle Busch was involved in a single truck accident during practice number two forcing the team to pull out the backup truck. "First I want to thank all my guys for all they did to get this backup truck ready. They had to work entirely too hard to turn it around. I believe this piece is as good as the primary truck we had. We worked all during practice to make it turn better in the middle, obviously we went a little too far on the truck yesterday so we took that back out of this one." -Kyle Busch (High Sierra Photo)

Rookie Practice Notes: Phoenix Raybestos Rookie Todd Kluever posted 12th-best time during the final practice session for the Chevy Silverado 150. He will make his first start at Phoenix in Friday's race. "I think it's pretty decent in race trim. If we can get it just a little bit tighter in our bonsai run or mock qualifying run it will be really good there, too. My Rotella guys brought a really good Ford F-150 out here, not that I would expect anything different out of them lately." -Todd Kluever (High Sierra Photo)

Chevy Practice Notes: Phoenix 11-10-2005 7:51 pm
Chevy Practice Notes: Phoenix Dennis Setzer, No. 46 Chevrolet Silverado, 3rd in 1st Practice, 9th in 2nd Practice: "I think we have a good piece for the race. We had solid runs in race trim during both sessions. I think we will have the right starting spot to let the track and the race come to us. I would love to say we could start in the front two because that is the best place to start one of these NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races.  (High Sierra Photo)

As Season Winds Down, Top-10 Still Up in the Air 11-08-2005 3:37 pm
As Season Winds Down, Top-10 Still Up in the Air The measure of a driver and a team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has been a top-10 championship finish. Achieving that goal has never been more difficult. Heading into Friday's Silverado 150 at Phoenix International Raceway, the standings remain in flux - just as they have been since the season began in February at Daytona International Speedway. Twenty-one different drivers have held a top-10 position through the year's first 23 races. The No. 10 ranking - last to earn a spot on-stage at the Dec. 11 Champion's Awards Ceremony in Orlando, Fla. - has changed 14 times among nine drivers. With two races remaining on the schedule, only 97 points are the difference between eighth and 12th. The battle pits veterans like Jimmy Spencer in the No. 2 Team ASE Dodge against such newcomers at Todd Kluever, Rookie of the Year driver of the No. 50 Shell Rotella T Ford. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Cook, No. 10 Ford Preview: Phoenix 11-08-2005 3:00 pm
“Phoenix is a slippery surface and hard to hook up; you slide in the corners.  The team that slides the truck the least will likely win the race.  Phoenix is a lot like Nazareth Speedway in that you have to compromise between the turns and chase the balance of the truck." -Terry Cook
