Bodine Makes it Back to Back Texas Wins 11-07-2005 5:40 pm
Bodine Makes it Back to Back Texas Wins Todd Bodine returned to familiar ground as he took his No. 30 Germain Motor Co./Racers Edge/Toyota Tundra to victory lane this past Friday by winning the Silverado 350 at Texas Motor Speedway in typical Todd Bodine fashion. He grabbed his seconded consecutive fall checkered flag in front of an estimated crowd of 70,000 at Texas Motor Speedway by passing pole sitter Mike Skinner with 23-laps to go. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Busch Rounds Up a Third Place Finish at Texas Kyle Busch's goal of making it back-to-back victories in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series came up a bit short on Friday night in the Silverado 350K at Texas Motor Speedway. Busch, piloting the No. 15 ditech.com/National Land Liquidations Chevrolet for Billy Ballew Motorsports, finished in the third position after leading 26 laps. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Silverado 350K - Official Results 11-07-2005 2:13 pm
Todd Bodine holds up victory trophy at TMS Todd Bodine pulled off his third win of the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and his second consecutive win in the Silverado 350 on Friday night. Bodine went to the front after second-place Kyle Busch scrubbed the wall late in the race and then he blasted past leader Mike Skinner with 22 laps remaining. Pole sitter Skinner was able to hold on for the runner-up position while Busch held off home state favorite David Starr for third. David Reutimann rounded out the top five finishers.

Neither of the contenders for the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship were factors throughout the race. Ted Musgrave finished 14th and picked up a handful of points on second place Dennis Setzer after Setzer's 18th-place finish. Musgrave unofficially leads the points by 61 points heading into the penultimate round of the season next weekend in Phoenix.
Skinner was the dominant driver in the early stages and pulled out to a one-second lead at times, but Bodine also immediately flexed the muscles of his No. 30 Germain Racing Toyota. While he didn't take the lead for the first time until lap 125, Bodine moved into the top five very early on and never dropped out the remainder of the race.

Jack Sprague's third start with the Wyler Racing team was the charm as he picked up his first top ten finish with them as he crossed the stripe in sixth. Ron Hornaday was seventh, with Rick Crawford in eighth, defending series champion Bobby Hamilton was ninth with Todd Kluever rounding out the top ten.

Terry Cook looked to be a factor for the win after starting third and staying up front for much of the night. Cook lost the handle in the middle stages of the race and faded outside of the top twenty before coming in for tires on the last caution flag with 10 laps remaining. Cook was able to charge from 22nd on the restart to 12th at the finish.

The race was very clean without any major incidents. Jack Bailey tagged the turn two wall on lap 2 to bring out the first caution. Justin Allgaier spun across the start-finish line, Aric Almirola slid into the inside wall on the backstretch, and Regan Smith spun exiting turn two and backed it in before smacking the inside backstretch wall. None of the drivers involved in the incidents were injured.

Late Engine Problems Slow Spencer in Texas 11-07-2005 12:41 pm
Jimmy Spencer's late-race charge to the front was derailed when an engine miss in the closing laps of the Silverado 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race forced the No. 2 Team ASE/Ultra Wheels Dodge to fall off the pace, and relegating Spencer to 24th at the checkered flag.  Spencer started 25th, but was challenging for a top-10 position after a long green flag run when the gremlins struck.

Pressley Takes 26th Place at Texas Motor Speedway 11-07-2005 11:51 am

Lester Corrals Hard Fought 11th Place Finish at Texas 11-07-2005 11:02 am
Lester Corrals Hard Fought 11th Place Finish at Texas The Silverado 350 was a bewildering race for the No. 22 Crown Royal Toyota Tundra team at Texas Motor Speedway. The team pictured the evening starting off with a loose-handling truck that would probably evolve into a slightly tighter machine by race end, but the truck actually did just the opposite and eventually landed Bill Lester and crew in 11th place by the end of the night. Skinner Moves Up in Points Race with Second at Texas 11-07-2005 10:51 am
Skinner Moves Up in Points Race with Second at Texas Mike Skinner and the No. 5 Toyota Tundra team occupied the spotlight more than once during the weekend of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racing at Texas Motor Speedway. Friday night, it looked like Skinner and crew were going to end the race exactly where they had started it, in first place, until another Toyota competitor managed to slide by the No. 5 Bill Davis Racing Tundra with less than 25 circuits remaining in the 147-lap competition. Gaughan's Drive for Five Derailed in '05 The 2005 season was supposed to mark Brendan Gaughan's successful drive for five Texas Motor Speedway victories. Instead it will go down in the record books as the season when Gaughan failed to post a top 25 finish at one of his favored places to race. In June, electrical problems dashed Gaughan's hopes and relegated him to a 27th place finish. (Charles Krall/TruckSeries.com Photo)

He finished 10th and closed-in on the top 10 in the point standings. Kluever started the race in fifth place after turning a lap of 182.420 mph in qualifying Thursday night. "It was a decent run," Kluever said.  "We just could never get the truck free enough to turn. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Reutimann Nails Top-5 Finish at Texas David Reutimann's No. 17 NTN Bearings Toyota Tundra crossed the finish line in fifth-place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Texas Motor Speedway Friday night. "The truck felt like it was good the whole race," said Reutimann. "It just needed to be better at various points. It wasn't far off. When you're running wide open as fast as you are, you only have to be off a little bit to make it tough to pass." (High Sierra Photo)

Crafton Races into Top Ten Before Settling for 16th at Texas 11-07-2005 9:44 am
Matt Crafton came from the back of the pack in the ThorSport Racing No. 88 Menards/SealBest Chevrolet on Friday night after a post-qualifying engine change, but having the entire field in his windshield didn't bother him as he methodically picked up position after position until he was within the top ten with 15 laps to go before a caution flag allowed drivers on fresher tires to line up on his tailgate.

Engine Woes Slow Spencer at Texas 11-07-2005 9:42 am
Jimmy Spencer's late-race charge to the front was derailed when an engine miss in the closing laps of the Silverado 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race forced the No. 2 Team ASE/Ultra Wheels Dodge to fall off the pace, and relegating Spencer to 24th at the checkered flag.  Spencer started 25th, but was challenging for a top-10 position after a long green flag run when the gremlins struck.

"We really struggled all weekend with the handling on our Tundra but we hung tough as a team and come out of here with a solid finish," said Sprague. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Championship Battle Rages On After Texas 11-07-2005 12:12 am
Championship Battle Rages On After Texas After 22 of 25 races, the race for the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship is still as unclear as the day the season started in the cold of February.  The only thing that seems for certain is the field has been whittled down to two: current point leader Ted Musgrave and Dennis Setzer.  Musgrave, who won earlier this season at Gateway, took over the top spot after Setzer, a four-time winner in 2005, was caught in a slump through the months of September and October. Bodine Capitalizes on Runnerup Scramble at Texas 11-07-2005 12:11 am
Bodine Capitalizes on Runnerup Scramble at Texas A driver always thinks his mount can be a little faster or more dominant. Not Todd Bodine after winning Friday night's Silverado 350 at Texas Motor Speedway. "How can you go much faster than wide open?" asked Bodine, who hung around the top four throughout the race before passing Bud Pole starter Mike Skinner with 23 laps remaining. "Our truck was that good. I can't think of any way we could have made it any better." (High Sierra Photo)

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race Notes: Texas 11-06-2005 10:35 pm
The battle for 10th-place – and a spot on-stage at the Dec. 11 champion’s banquet in Orlando – is closest in series history with just 96 points separating eighth ( Jimmy Spencer ) and 12th ( Todd Kluever ).  Consider this: The No. 10 position has changed hands 14 times in the season’s first 23 races. Matt Crafton is the current “bubble” driver with a 10-point advantage over Martinsville winner Ricky Craven .  “We want to (finish) a top-10 team because we have a top-10 team,” said Crafton. “Running good in the last two races and finishing there will be a good help for momentum for next year.”  Twenty-one different drivers have ranked among the top 10 at some point during the 2005 season.

Toyota Race Notes: Texas 11-05-2005 12:35 am

Chevrolet Race Notes: Texas 11-05-2005 12:19 am
Chevrolet Race Notes: Texas We brought one of our Robertson chassis tonight and we just can't get where we need to be on these things. Its the same truck we ran at Atlanta last week and it wasn't much better. The last few races we just can't get competitive and I don't know what the problem is. "My Chevrolet Silverado started out pretty good, but got real loose, kind of a snap loose there after about fifteen to twenty laps. I just couldn't throttle up in the center of the corner and had no grip or sidebite. - Dennis Setzer (Charles Krall/TruckSeries.com Photo)

Musgrave Dominates Texas but Setzer Finds Victory Lane 11-01-2005 2:00 pm
Musgrave Dominates Texas but Setzer Finds Victory Lane Statistics don't always tell the whole story and for that reason Dennis Setzer in the No. 46 Chevrolet Z71 Silverado Chevrolet feels optimistic this week about gaining ground in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship race. On paper, point leader Ted Musgrave, driver of the No. 1 Mopar Dodge looks like a heavy favorite to win Friday's Silverado 350 at Texas Motor Speedway. Musgrave, who leads Setzer by 51 points with three races remaining, is a front-runner whenever the series visits 1.5-mile TMS. He's tied first in series races led (six) and fourth among laps led (191) at TMS. Conversely, Setzer has led four races and just 71 laps there. The scoreboard, however, shows something else when it comes to taking the checkered flag: Setzer has two wins. Musgrave, despite his dominance, has yet to visit Victory Lane. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Montgomery Excited About Texas After Test 11-01-2005 1:24 pm
“Texas is a fast race track. Its reminds me of Atlanta and Lowes Motor Speedway, but has a distinctive attitude. Texas is a 1.5–mile quad-oval track and is known for it’s extreme speeds. I experienced it first hand when we were there in June. I was turned right into the wall and felt the force as I hit. I had a mild concussion and spent the last half of the race in the hospital going through tests. Thankfully everything was good, but it killed our truck." -Chase Montgomery
