Bailey drove the #08 CENTURY 21 Team /Bedslide.com truck for Green Light Racing and owners Bobby Dotter and Gene Christensen. After the top 20 finish, Bailey said, "The truck was fast by its self. Robert Pressley, driving the No. 59 Harris Trucking Dodge, finished 24th in the Las Vegas 350K at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday night. The truck never did perform up to expectations, but the crew never gave up the strategy game of trying to get in the top-10 running order.

In the city accustomed to rolling the dice BHR Driver Chase Montgomery and Crew Chief Kip McCord took a gamble on a track bar adjustment halfway through the Las Vegas 350K at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That gamble proved to be the right move for the No. 18 RoadLoans Dodge, Montgomery was able to pass several trucks in the closing laps to bring home a 19th place finish. It was the team's 13th top 25 finish of the season. (Ronda Greer Photo)

The city that never sleeps offered up some excitement for Chad Chaffin and his No. 60 Toyota Tundra. A wild ride through the grass and across the finish line capped off an eventful 16th place finish for Chaffin in the running of the Las Vegas 350 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

Smooth, steady, and consistent describe the Las Vegas weekend for Brandon Whitt and the #38 Red Horse Racing Tundra team. A much need change of pace for the team who have endured a rough month of August and September with unfortunate events ruining promising finishes. As the green flag flew Whitt settled into his rhythm, picking off several spots in the early on and working his way up to the sixth position. (High Sierra Photo)

When the BHR team decided to go back to the basics before racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and change the nose on Bobby Hamilton's No. 04 Bailey's/Stratosphere Dodge, it proved to be the right choice. On the final green-white-checkered flag finish Hamilton wheeled his Dodge on the outside and inside passing three trucks in one corner to finish the Las Vegas 350 in the fifth position. The strong finish in Las Vegas would move the Circle Bar team into the points lead for Ford teams and up a spot in the overall points standings. Rick Crawford on his day, "Cowboy (Starland) and the guys worked hard all day long and it paid off at the end. I wish we had a few more laps, because I think we could have overtaken a few more. This was another solid run for us and with the momentum we've created I wish we were racing next week." (Ronda Greer Photo)

Although she fought handling issues throughout the entire race, Deborah Renshaw persevered and brought the No. 8 Heritage Dodge home to a solid 25th place finish in the Las Vegas 350 Saturday night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway after starting in the 33rd position on the grid. The one-day event was the 20th race of the 25-event 2005 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.

Mike Skinner and the No. 5 Toyota Tundra team went to Las Vegas knowing they could not make any mistakes if they wanted to still be in the championship hunt. The team had a strong showing at the mile-and-a- half speedway in 2004, sitting on the pole and finishing sixth, but wanted to improve on their finish by five spots in Saturday night's event. Skinner has excelled at tracks like Las Vegas all year and the team felt as if they had a shot for another top-five performance under the lights Saturday. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Bill Lester was looking forward to getting his New Page Toyota on the track in Las Vegas. The 22 team needed a strong run to get their team back on track and were all looking forward to getting back to an intermediate-size track. Lester has two poles this season at the one-and-a-half mile configurations and really has run strong on these tracks all year.

The No 23 Toyota Certified Used Vehicles Tundra team headed to Las Vegas Motor Speedway trying to put the disappointing weekend at New Hampshire behind them. The team was confident they were bringing a truck to the flat mile-and-a-half track that would compete for the win. In Johnny Benson’s only start in Las Vegas he had a top-five result.

What a weekend for Todd Bodine and the No. 30 Germain Motor Co. Toyota Tundra Team, as they got the monkey off their back by winning a thrilling green-white-checkered flag finish Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The No. 30 Germain Motor Co. Tundra was stout all weekend long. The race weekend could not have started off any better for Bodine as he posted the second fastest time of 33.206/162.621 mph in Saturday morning's practice session. Tracy Hines started the ThorSport Racing No. 13 David Zoriki Inc. Chevrolet 21st in the Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday night, and with a couple of quick passes for position looked to have a truck that could race into the top-10 for the second time in three races. However, Hines was snakebit by Lady Luck once again when the left rear tire delaminated, sending the carcass of the tire flying across the track and sending Hines sliding out of control at the start-finish line and slamming hard into the frontstretch wall.
|
|
|
Matt Crafton drove the ThorSport Racing No. 88 Menards/SealBest Chevrolet to an 11th-place finish in the Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Truck Series race Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Crafton started 18th, and quickly bolted to his trademark outside groove and picked up several spots on the start. A fast truck and consistent pit stops gave Crafton a chance to pick up another top-10 finish, but a late race caution and a shuffle in the pack on the restart left Crafton with no where to go and left him just short of his 9th top-10 finish of the season.
|
|
|
Jimmy Spencer qualified sixth and had a strong truck in the early stages of the Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday night, but a persistent engine miss forced Spencer to reduce his pace before eventually sidelining him just short of the finish. Spencer drove the No. 2 Team ASE/Ultra Wheels Dodge into the top-5 before the baffling engine problem struck, leaving Spencer 31st at the finish.

|
Joey Miller overcame an early race accident to finish 15th in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night. "We knew we had a pretty good truck, but we had to take it easy for a few laps to feel everything out," said Miller. "If we could've avoided being involved in an accident early on, we would've finished even better." While trying to avoid an accident ahead of him, Miller's No. 12 Toyota Tundra was struck from behind on Lap 2.

Todd Bodine dominated all night long, but needed to make a last lap pass of championship contender Ted Musgrave to take the win in the Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Musgave had powered to the lead just moments before the fifth and final caution came out on lap 145 to send the race into overtime.
Musgrave led handily on the first of the two laps to conclude the race, but Bodine had a strong run off turn two on the final lap and powered around on the outside to take his second win of the season. Musgrave finished second and closed the points gap on leader Dennis Setzer. Musgrave led his first laps since June, and kept his truck in the top-5 for the entire evening. With the second place finish, combined with Setzer's 14th place finish, Musgrave now cuts the points lead to just 5 points heading into Martinsville.
Jack Sprague slapped the wall coming the white flag to set up a fantastic battle for the third position, which was won by David Starr at the stripe by a bumper. Sprague was fourth at the line, with defending series champion Bobby Hamilton making a strong recovery after two races of sour luck to pick up fifth.
Pole sitter Mike Skinner led early, but faded to a sixth place finish, with last week's winner Rick Crawford finishing in seventh. Raybestos Rookie of the Year leader Todd Kluever finished eighth, Brandon Whitt was ninth, and Tim Fedewa was 10th. Fedewa was fifth on the final restart, but a nudge from behind sent him out of the groove and back into the pack on the last two laps.
The race was red flagged for six minutes on lap 4 when Tracy Hines had a left rear tire fail and it sent him on a wild spin down the front stretch. Hines pounded the front stretch wall and rookie Joey Miller and Brendan Gaughan were caught up in the ensuing stack up. Gaughan eventually retired with a broken valve spring, while Miller was able to continue.
The race went green for the next 63 laps before Chad Chaffin went for a slide in turn two. That allowed the leaders to come back to the pits, just a handful of laps after the completion of green flag pit stops. Steve Park led on the restart, but Bodine quickly moved back to the front to resume his relentless charge. Kelly Sutton and Bill Lester were also involved in single truck incidents in turns one and two; Sutton spun to the low side of turn two while Lester had a right front tire go soft and made contact with the turn two wall.
The series is off until October 22 when they head to Martinsville Speedway for the Kroger 200. (High Sierra Photo)

David Reutimann finished 12th in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night. "I'm disappointed that we finished 12th," said Reutimann. "The longer we raced, the looser and looser the truck got. Finally, it got to the point where it was hung out. It was just too loose, which made it really hard to drive." Todd Bodine's last lap pass kept Ted Musgrave from taking over the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship lead but the battle with five races remaining matches the closest in series history. Dennis Setzer holds a five point lead, the same margin by which Jack Sprague headed Ron Hornaday Jr. at the same point of the 1998 season. Hornaday wound up winning his second title by three points, the closest margin in history.(High Sierra Photo)

Todd Kluever was hoping to hit the jackpot Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After working on the No. 50 World Financial Group Ford F-150 throughout the race to improve the handling, the team earned their eighth top 10 finish of the season with an eighth-place finish. Although it was not the jackpot, it was a solid finish for the team. (Charles Krall/TruckSeries.com Photo)

Defeated a year ago at Las Vegas Motor Speedway by a relatively inexperienced driver, Todd Bodine wasn't about to let a veteran spoil the party. Bodine finished second to Shane Hmiel last season, losing the lead on the next to final lap of the Las Vegas 350. The New York native, at the wheel of the race's most dominant truck, saw déjà vu all over again on Saturday night when a persistent Ted Musgrave wrested away the lead on what was supposed to be the 145th of 146 laps around the 1.5-mile superspeedway. This time, however, things played out in Bodine's favor. A few seconds after Musgrave executed a Turn 2 pass, and several seconds before the white flag was to signal the final lap, Steve Park's engine failure and accident put the track under caution for the fifth time. Brendan Gaughan loves nothing more than racing in his beloved hometown of Las Vegas but unfortunately for the Jasper Engines and Transmissions team they got caught in the middle of someone else’s mess and their night was over almost before it began.

After a 12th place finish at New Hampshire International Speedway, Steve Park was fired up to get to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and hand Orleans Racing the kind of performance they really deserve in their own backyard. But all the determination in the world couldn't overcome the hand he was dealt in the 20th race of the season.

"We got better and some trucks got worse. Actually, long runs didn't hurt us. We were the best finishing Ford and that's something we're shooting for every week. I'm glad that the entire Circle Bar Corral guys stayed behind it tonight. We started 15th and battled up to seventh, so it was a pretty good night." -
Rick Crawford

We were pretty tight but Dave (McCarty, crew chief) and the guys made some adjustments and we got pretty good there at the end. We had loosened the truck up for qualifying and that was the right thing for us to do. We probably could have loosened it a little more and been good in the race but we would have sacrificed something there for the race. But I am pretty happy how we ran and finished tonight.

This is Toyota's second season -- and 45th race -- in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTS). A Toyota has captured the checkered flag 10 times in 45 NCTS races since the beginning of the 2004 season. Todd Bodine's win tonight at Las Vegas in the No. 30 Germain Racing Tundra is Toyota's sixth victory of the 2005 season. This marks Bodine's second NCTS win this year driving the No. 30 Tundra, and his fourth NCTS victory since he began running full-time in the series last year at Richmond. (Ronda Greer Photo)

"I am pretty happy with our qualifying effort for tonight's race. Starting in the top-10 is critical in any NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race because the competition is so tough out there, it is important to get track position as early as possible. Dave McCarty (crew chief) and the guys have a good setup to start the race. We got our first-ever win here; this would be a good place to get our Spears Manufacturing Chevy team back to victory lane."
-David Starr

"We haven't quite got our Chevy Trucks Silverado where we need to be for the race tonight. Near the end of the second practice, we started to get to the point where we will have the right setup to adjust on as the race unfolds. We weren't where we wanted to be with our qualifying run either but I know my guys and they will change a few things so we can go out and get decent starting spot." -

Mike Skinner continued his dominance of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Pole Qualifying by qualifying on the top spot for a series leading sixth time during time trials for the Las Vegas 350 Saturday evening at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Skinner narrowly edged out his Bill Davis Racing teammate Bill Lester as Toyota swept the top four starting positions for tonight's 146-lapper. Skinner's quick lap was 32.676 seconds/165.258 mph, just off the record pace he set on the way to the pole here last season. Skinner was just 0.012 of a second off his record pace, but it was just enough to keep Lester outside the front row. Lester, who won the pole earlier in back to back races at Kansas and Kentucky, turned a fast lap of 32.690 to claim his fourth front row starting position of 2005. (High Sierra Photo)

Park, driving the Orleans Racing Dodge, finished third in this event in 2004 --- and is racing for the team that dominated this race in 2003. While Keselowski is focused on a solid run on the mile and a half speedway, he knows that racing on yet another track for the first time is always a gamble.

Coming off a thrilling win at the Sylvania 200 in New Hampshire, Rick Crawford and his Circle Bar Team are looking to repeat this weekend in Las Vegas. The 2005 season has been hard on the Circle Bar Team, but fresh from a win in New Hampshire the 1.5 mile tri-oval could be the best bet for the team to keep their momentum going for the final 6 races of the 2005 season. Vegas has been good to Crawford, with the team posting 6 top 15 finishes in 7 starts. The Ford F-150 the team will use in the Las Vegas 350 is chassis # CB-16. It has been raced 3 times before in 2005, Nashville, Texas, and Michigan and has qualified in the top 5 each time out.

"We didn't have the best day in Las Vegas last year but I am confident that the BHR2 team has the truck ready to go. Las Vegas is very similar to Kentucky - you need a lot of downforce in the truck and a lot of horsepower under the hood. Arrington Engines has given us some great power all season and I'm sure we are ready to go for the challenges at Las Vegas. We had a solid run last week in New Hampshire and we plan on keeping that momentum going in Vegas."

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a favorite venue for NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Eric Norris. From clinching his 2002 Nascar Grand National West Series Championship to earning 4 Top 10 finishes, Las Vegas has been the site of many big moments in Norris’ racing career. While Norris has a lot of experience at Las Vegas in the NASCAR Busch and West series, Saturday will mark his Craftsman Truck Series debut at the 1.5-mile track.

"Las Vegas is a great place for us to keep these strong runs going and better our finish of last week. The track in Vegas is a fantastic 1.5-mile oval that rivals no other tracks of its kind. It is wide with many grooves and provides for great passing opportunities. We have really had to play the track position game at the tracks here lately because it is so hard to pass at places like Loudon and Richmond. But if your truck is better than the guy in front of you in Vegas there is plenty of room to get around them. We have been strong right off the trailer of late and I know the guys on this Wyler Racing team will provide me with the same thing again this week. A win in Las Vegas would be a cool and fun thing for all of us and that is what we are shooting for.”

It doesn't take much to get Brendan Gaughan (No. 77 Jasper Engines & Transmissions Dodge) excited. But this week, the Las Vegas native is really excited. Gaughan and teammate Steve Park (No. 62 Orleans Dodge) comprise the home team in Saturday's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Las Vegas 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. To say that the 2003 race winner is pumped up is an understatement. "We don't even need to do a press release for the Orleans team this week. It speaks for itself," said Gaughan. "In 2003, we had almost 70,000 people show up for the race and we went out there and got the pole and spanked the field. Last year, Steve had a good run (finishing third). This is the race we mark every year and say this is THE race. If we win Vegas we all get to keep our jobs and everybody is happy." (Steve Keller/TruckSeries.com Photo)

Rick Crawford, driver of the No. 14 Ford F-150, overcame numerous obstacles this season to capture his first truck series victory of 2005 last weekend in New Hampshire. “The Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International Ford was awesome last year. Fresh tires were huge. We came in and did a track bar and an air pressure adjustment and then this truck turned into a rocket. We just fought the balance of the truck and fortunately dodged a couple of bullets when people spun in front of us. The last run we put fresh tires on and we thought we were going to be all right but on the restart I had to jump on the brakes to avoid hitting the 14 truck and lost a bunch of track time. Had we not lost that track time we would have easily finished in the top five.”

"Las Vegas has been a great place for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to race over the years. Everyone loves to go to Las Vegas because its such a great city, and the facility at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is first class. The track itself is one of the flatter mile-and-a-half tracks that we visit. Its got plenty of racing room all the way around with a wide racing surface. You want your truck to rotate well in the corners and get out of the corners. If you can exit the corner good and throttle up quicker, its going to give you an advantage down the straightaways."
