Four Past Truck Champions and Three Time Speedway Winner to vie for Win at California 02-21-2005 4:03 pm
If you thought Interstate 10 heading into the City of Angels was difficult to maneuver, you haven't been to a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race lately. Trucks carrying heavy clout, including seven series championships among four drivers and five California Speedway trophies between two drivers, will trail behind the field of 36 in the American Racing Wheels 200 on Friday, February 25. "The level of competition is very high," said Musgrave, three time winner and driver of the No. 1 Mopar Dodge. "Each year in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the level of competition seems to go up a notch."

Huffman Targets California to Showcase Tundra 02-22-2005 4:34 pm
Being sidelined at Daytona four laps before the checkered flag, fuels Robert Huffman’s drive to become the sixth different NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victor at California Speedway. “To win at California would be huge for any Toyota driver because the track is essentially in TRD’s back yard,” said Huffman. “Todd (Bodine) found that out last year. TRD’s Costa Mesa facility is not far away from the track and it powers Toyota’s American racing programs.

Setzer, No. 46 Chevrolet California Pre-Race Notes 02-22-2005 4:37 pm
“We came out here in late January and tested our #46 Silverado and felt pretty good when we packed up and headed back to North Carolina.  This place has been good to us over the past few years, but we know that the competition has gotten better and better, especially at a tough two-mile facility like this.  You have to have a strong motor program to run good here and we feel like the RCR motors we have under the hood of our Chevrolet will give us the advantage we need to get to victory lane here at this type of speedway.”

Sprague, No. 16 Chevrolet Preview: California 02-22-2005 4:41 pm
"Since the first NCTS race at California Speedway, I have loved that track. I have had pretty good luck there. It is a fun track to race. It is one of those places that we could come race more than once a season and I would be happy! It is a great track and the races are always good for the fans."

Reutimann, NTN Bearings Toyota Good as Gold at California 02-22-2005 4:53 pm
After a trying 12th-place finish at Daytona International Speedway in the No. 17 NTN Bearings Toyota Tundra, David Reutimann’s relieved California Speedway is next on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 25-race schedule since experiencing success at the two-mile tri-oval last October.

Raybestos Rookie News and Notes: California 02-22-2005 5:17 pm
Sean Murphy was the Raybestos® Rookie of the Race at the Florida Dodge Dealers 250 at Daytona International Speedway, scoring a 24th-place finish. Kerry Earnhardt won the pole for the Florida Dodge Dealers 250, his first ever in the Craftsman Truck Series. Regan Smith and Kerry Earnhardt were the only Raybestos® Rookies to lead at least one lap at Daytona. Smith led three times for four laps while Earnhardt held the top spot once for one lap.

Keselowski Taking Daytona Momentum to California Speedway 02-22-2005 5:21 pm
While Brad Keselowski left the Daytona International Speedway with a ‘slightly bent’ race truck, he was still one of the happier drivers in the garage area as he celebrated his NCTS career-best seventh place finish.  However that celebration will quickly shift to focus on this weekend’s American Racing Wheels 200 at the California Speedway.  Keselowski, who currently sits sixth in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points, will pilot his No. 29 SUBcrews.com Ford F-150 to what he hopes will be another top ten finish to start off this 2005 season.

Whitt, No. 38 Toyota Preview: California 02-22-2005 5:32 pm
There were a couple of highly electric moments in friday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway. Two trucks flipped while crashing during the race – both finishing on their wheels. No one was injured. With the series headed to the two mile California Speedway this week, Some have wondered if this will be an issue this weekend or during the season.

Circle Bar Unveils 200th Consecutive Start Logo & Paint Scheme 02-22-2005 5:35 pm
Circle Bar Unveils 200th Consecutive Start Logo & Paint Scheme Eight years and over 32,000 laps in the making the Circle Bar Truck Corral Race Team unveiled the Tom Mitchell-Rick Crawford 200th Consecutive start logo and paint scheme for the American Racing Wheels 200 at California Speedway.  The one race scheme features a metal background to represent the Ironman status both Crawford and Mitchell have earned in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series over the last 9 seasons.  The metal is blended with the retro blue paint scheme that traces its roots to the Mitchell-Crawford NASCAR All-Pro entries from 14 years ago.

Atwood in the Bailey's Dodge Again for California 02-22-2005 5:57 pm
“I have had some really good runs at California Speedway and I have had some not so good runs there. It has been a mixed bag for me on the West Coast. I qualified seventh there in a Busch car in 1999 and we ran near the front all day. I have had some good runs there in a Cup car as well, we qualified pretty good there (12th) in 2002. I will be happy to get to California with these trucks where we can race on a normal type racetrack. I don't like the type of racing where you all run together in a pack all the time like Daytona.”

Kluever, No. 50 Ford Review: California 02-22-2005 6:03 pm
"I am so glad to be out of Daytona and moving on to California.  I really enjoyed racing at Daytona, but we sure didn't have any luck there.  I feel bad for all of the guys because I had two really good trucks in Daytona and neither one came back to the shop in good shape.  I was in the wrong place at the wrong time on three occasions if you count the ARCA race too."

Craven No. 99 Ford Preview: California 02-22-2005 6:12 pm
Ricky Craven on California: "I am really pleased with how we ran at Daytona.  To come out of there with a fourth-place finish is pretty good.  The bottom line is that I wanted to race for Jack Roush.  He called me, and I'm thankful he did.  I've got a great group that I'm working with and I'm looking forward to this season. I'm reunited with Mike Beam and I think that's going to pay off.  We've got a lot of young guys on this Superchips team and their enthusiasm is contagious."

Hamilton Ready for California 02-23-2005 12:22 am
“The biggest change for us with this new schedule that we saw was not so much the travel the week after Daytona, but that this was the first time that we had to prepare trucks for that event (early). So, basically what happened was that when we loaded up to go to Daytona, our California stuff was done. Usually we have a month (after Daytona) to get it done. There have been times when we have come back from Daytona and built a brand new truck that hadn’t even come off the metal rack yet."

Crawford’s 200th Start Yet Another Milestone for the Truck Series 02-23-2005 12:37 am
Crawford019s 200th Start Yet Another Milestone for the Truck Series The 2005 season marks a major milestone for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as it celebrates its 10th anniversary season – “10 Years Tough” – of pickup truck racing. The landmark season is being honored with a special logo and a countdown of the Series’ “Toughest Moments” on SPEED Channel during each race broadcast. But the Series’ 10th year isn’t the only milestone being celebrated in 2005. One driver will mark a major highlight in his NASCAR career at California Speedway this weekend. Rick Crawford, driver of the No. 14 Circle Bar Truck Corral Ford, will attempt to become the first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver to start his 200th race. (CBR PR Photo)

Hattori Draws on IRL Experience at California 02-23-2005 12:53 am
"I’ve raced four times at California Speedway in the IRL and the Indy Lights.  I am very familiar with track and my experience will be a big help.  I know the track this time which is good but it is totally different then an open wheel car.  This week I know the track and will be better then last week.  I know the groves and movement on California Speedway. Daytona was completely different in every way.  The race track was totally new and different to me and the Germain/Arnold race truck was totally different.”

Chase Montgomery Rebounds, Ready for California 02-23-2005 10:30 am
California Speedway is an enjoyable track to race on. It is a fast and wide track that offers multiple racing grooves. It gives us a lot of room to race which allows for a great show for the fans.  California is more of a handling track. You will make adjustments in air pressures or to the track bar during the race to make your truck stronger."

Toyota Preview: California 02-23-2005 10:33 am
The American Racing Wheels 200 will be the ninth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race at California Speedway.  There will be nine Toyota Tundras in the field. In the 2005 NCTS season-opener at Daytona International Speedway, Toyota drivers Todd Bodine and Johnny Benson recorded top-10 finishes.  Bodine, who started sixth, led the race five times for 16 laps and crossed the finish line third in the No. 66 Fiddle Back Racing Tundra.  Benson, driver of the No. 23 Bill Davis Racing Tundra, started 17th and led five laps en route to a 10th-place finish.

Chevrolet Team Silverado Ready for California Speedway 02-23-2005 10:41 am
Chevrolet Team Silverado drivers Dennis Setzer, Jack Sprague, David Starr and Ron Hornaday have experienced great success in previous NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) races at California Speedway.  Sprague, driver of the No. 16 Chevy Trucks Silverado, has two wins (1998 and 1999), a fourth place finish in 2000 and third place in 2004 for a total of four top-five finishes in six starts at the two-mile oval located in Fontana CA.

Starr No. 75 Preview: California 02-23-2005 10:55 am
“I’m really looking forward to getting to Fontana and California Speedway.  It will be fun racing back to back weekends in the Chevrolet Silverado. In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series over the past two or three years we had to wait after Daytona a month to five weeks to race again.  Now we go right from Daytona out west where the racing is different. I’m looking forward to getting there and racing.  Dave McCarty and the guys have put together a fast Silverado for California.”

Smith, No. 19 Chevrolet Preview: California 02-23-2005 1:00 pm
Regan Smith begins his first full season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series behind the wheel of the No. 19 Xpress Motorsports Silverado as teammate to three-time NCTS champion, Jack Sprague.  He will compete for the Raybestos Rookie of the Year title.

Sutton on Racing Under the Lights at Fontana 02-23-2005 1:10 pm
Kelly brought home a career-best 17th place finish at Daytona, after racing in the lead pack for most of the night. She is looking forward to her return to California, where she currently holds the record for the best start by a female NCTS driver (23rd).

Renshaw, No 8 Dodge California Preview 02-23-2005 1:51 pm
It will be nice to get right back into the truck again this week.  We had a very good DODGE truck last week in Daytona and just seemed to always get caught up in someone else’s mess.  I have no doubt that we will have a very strong truck once again this week and Arrington Engines supplies us with awesome horsepower and that will be key at a big track such as California."

Chaffin, No. 30 Toyota California Preview 02-23-2005 1:53 pm
"I am so looking forward to racing this week in California.  Last year in the Craftsman Truck Series we had a big break in our schedule after Daytona but with the strong performance this team put on in Daytona and with how close we were to victory - I am very excited to be racing right away this week.  The track in California is a wide multi-groove track and it provides for some exciting side by side racing.

Park No. 62 Dodge California Preview 02-23-2005 2:09 pm
To keep things interesting Orleans Racing is doing a little swap this weekend. The swap puts driver Steve Park in a yellow #62 Jasper Engines and Transmissions Dodge Ram for this weekend’s race. The move will be short lived, and just for the American Racing Wheels 200.

Back In Black: Brendan Gaughan California Preview 02-23-2005 2:28 pm
Driver Brendan Gaughan will wheel an all black #77 Dodge Ram this weekend at Fontana. Gaughan’s Dodge will sport American Racing Wheels livery for this weekend’s event. Gaughan will drive Orleans Racing’s T10 truck. This Dodge Ram’s last outing came at Dover in 2004, where it finished 13th. No doubt this Las Vegas based driver likes fast tracks, such as Fontana. The records show that if Gaughan is running at the finish at the California Speedway he’s scored a top-10.

NASCAR Preview: California 02-23-2005 6:16 pm
Record start for defending series champion ... No defending champion had opened the season with a victory until Bobby Hamilton (No. 04 Bailey's Dodge) prevailed in a final-lap duel with Jimmy Spencer (No. 2 Team ASE Dodge) on Feb. 18 at Daytona International Speedway. Hamilton now counts four victories at the 2.5-mile superspeedway; one as a driver and three as team owner. He's the sixth different Daytona winner.

American Racing Wheels Selects Gaughan as Grand Marshal 02-24-2005 12:14 am
It’s not often that one driver gets to tell another driver to start their race vehicle, but that’s just what will happen in this weekend’s American Racing Wheels 200 when the driver of the #77 American Racing Wheels Dodge, Brendan Gaughan will give the command to start engines.

Ford Notes: Rick Crawford Q&A 02-25-2005 2:13 am
Rick Crawford, driver of the No. 14 Ford, held a brief Q & A session in the California Speedway infield media center between practices for Friday’s American Racing Wheels 200 to discuss his record streak of consecutive starts.   Crawford is set to become the first Craftsman Truck Series driver to reach the 200-race milestone, and all have come with owner Tom Mitchell behind the wheel of a Ford F-150.

Chevrolet Practice Notes: California 02-25-2005 2:55 am
DENNIS SETZER, NO. 46 CHEVROLET SILVERADO: “Our Chevrolet Silverado is pretty good in qualifying trim.  We chased it a lot in race trim.  We don’t know how good we are there yet.  It is hard to say, we made some gains on it.  I will tell you tomorrow night after 200 miles here at California Speedway.

No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado Sports New Paint Scheme for California 02-25-2005 3:16 am
California Speedway brings a special paint scheme to the Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet Silverado.  This is the first time that Wayne & Connie Spears race cars or trucks have not been white with blue trim.  Spears Manufacturing Company produces multiple PVC and plastic products.  This week they have designed a special paint scheme for the No. 75 Chevrolet Silverado to show off their FlameGuard CPVC Fire Sprinkler product line.

K-Automotive Team Determined to Find Success at California with Brand New Truck 02-25-2005 3:19 am
Brad Keselowski and the K Automotive NASCAR Craftsman Truck team struggled through this afternoon’s practice sessions at the California Speedway as they tried to deal with shaking down their brand new SUBcrews.com Ford F-150. Keselowski, who left Daytona with a seventh place finish and the sixth position in championship points, elected to bring a brand new race truck to California Speedway rather than a truck that has been with the team more than five years. In order to get the new truck to California, the team was forced to spend the day after the Daytona event in a parking lot in Jacksonville, Florida putting the finishing touches on the truck.

Cook, No. 10 Ford Preview: California 02-25-2005 11:35 am
“We didn’t have the finish we wanted but we led the race all night long.  We were up front in the top five and wished we could’ve capped the night off with a good finish but it was a typical high-speed chess match; one wrong move of the pawn at the wrong time will get you in trouble. "

Earnhardt No. 15 Chrevrolet California Preview 02-25-2005 11:46 am
“We were in the NASCAR Busch Series with the FitzBradshaw Racing Team and things just weren’t working out, we didn’t have the chemistry a team should have. I could have stayed there and run around maybe mid pack or further back.  But that isn’t what I want to do. I want to compete, I want to race and I want to win."

Park Place 02-25-2005 10:49 pm
Four years to the day since his last trip to Victory Lane, Steve Park captured his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win in the American Racing Wheels 200 at the California Speedway on Friday night.   Park capitalized on leader Mike Bliss’ bad luck when Bliss ran out of fuel on lap 95 and led the rest of the way to take the win.  The win marks Park’s first NASCAR win since February 25, 2001 when he drove to victory in the Nextel Cup Series event in Rockingham, N.C.  Bliss, who had relieved injured Jack Sprague on lap 6, had led since taking over the top spot on lap 64 following a round of pit stops.  Bliss stretched the advantage to nearly a half second late in the race before the tank ran dry just 10 miles from the checkered flag. Cook Hangs Tough, Finishes 15th in California 02-26-2005 12:05 am
Terry Cook and the Power Stroke Diesel by International race team never gave up in Friday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at California Speedway. Cook, who started ninth, raced two and three wide early one with the lead pack and pitted on lap 40 under the green flag. Luck would not be on Cook’s side as the caution flag flew two laps later, putting Cook down one lap to the leaders. However, the determination to finish in the top 10 kept Cook going as the nine-year series veteran finally got his lap back with 19 laps to go. Cook crossed the start/finish line 15th and talked about his battle back to the front.

Raybestos Rookie Race Report: California 02-26-2005 12:09 am
REGAN SMITH, No. 19 X-PRESS MOTORSPORTS CHEVROLET: “We got a little bit warm there at the beginning of the race and evidently it might have hurt the motor or something. We lost a motor. Mark Smith and Tri Star build great motors. It’s just one of those deals. It kinda stinks this early in the race and still this early in the season and we haven’t even completed a hundred laps yet. We’ll just go on with it and see what happens. I’ve just got to thank Chevy Silverado, X-Press Motorsports, and Curb Records. The truck was good by itself. I was having a little bit of trouble in traffic with the air and stuff but I think if I could have ever got a little bit of clean traffic I could have got some track position. That’s how it goes. When I got out there by myself after we made a pit stop it was good by itself and in traffic everyone has got the same issues. They’re fighting with the air and with the nose pushing and stuff like that. We’ll go on to Atlanta and see what happens there.”

Ford Race Notes: California 02-26-2005 12:25 am
RICK CRAWFORD-14-Circle Bar Truck Corral Ford F-150 (Finished 14th) - “My 200th race, not too much different than the first race. I finished 11th in the first race and finished 14th tonight.  The competition is a lot stiffer in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and I think tonight is about what we needed.  We needed a race under our belt and we fought back from adversity with overheating because of a tear-off across the grille and had to pit before we melted the motor down.  The Yates-Roush engine makes a lot of steam and we didn’t want it to escape.  Me and Cowboy will get this Circle Bar team back going, but we needed this race under our belt.  There’s not a scratch on it and we’ll be for Atlanta.”

Chevrolet Post-Race Report: California 02-26-2005 12:39 am
MIKE BLISS, NO. 16 CHEVY TRUCKS CHEVROLET SILVERADO: QUALIFIED 11TH, FINISHED 22ND:   NOTE: Bliss qualified in place of the injured Jack Sprague. Sprague will drop to the back of the field and start the race from the back row.  Bliss will standby to replace Sprague for the remainder of the race.  Under first caution on lap six, Sprague brought the No. 16 down pit road and was lifted from the truck.  Bliss assumed the driving duties.  Bliss ran out of fuel with five laps to go while leading by eight truck lengths over race winner Steve Park.

Dodge Post-Race Report: California 02-26-2005 1:23 am
NOTE: Steve Park won his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory at California Speedway tonight. The win makes him the 10th driver to claim a victory in each of the NASCAR Truck, Busch and Cup Series.  Tonight’s race was the second consecutive 1-2 Dodge Ram finish this year.

Huffman, No. 12 Toyota Team Knocking on Top-10 Championship Leaderboard 02-26-2005 7:06 pm
Solid California Finish Has Huffman, No. 12 Toyota Team Knocking on Top-10 Leaderboard Collecting his seventh career top-10 finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Robert Huffman finished ninth in the 100-lap event at California Speedway Friday night.  “We were better than a ninth-place truck, but we are really pleased to get our first top-10 finish as a new team,” said Huffman. “Bobby Kennedy (team manger), Glenn Funderburk (crew chief) and the No. 12 Toyota Tundra team have worked really hard to pull this team together and we’ve got a really good group of guys. They’ve worked long hours to build these trucks and it’s obvious the hard work they’ve put into them. We’ve come out of the box running strong. We will only get better.” (High Sierra Photo)

Park Strikes Gold in California 02-26-2005 7:24 pm
It was only a matter of time before Steve Park and the Orleans Racing team found their way to Victory Lane and that time came following Friday night’s American Racing Wheels 200 at California Speedway.  Sporting the bright yellow colors of Jasper Engines & Transmissions for the Craftsman Truck Series’ second race of the season, Park started 25th and hung tough through the first half of the race as the caution flags seemed to fly in synch with the No. 62 Dodge team's race strategy.

Hamilton Rebounds to Finish 2nd in California 02-27-2005 11:02 pm
Bobby Hamilton appears to be unstoppable as he backed up the season opener win in Daytona Beach with a runner-up finish in his No. 04 Bailey's Dodge in the American Racing Wheels 200 at California Speedway.  The 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion sits atop the points standings by 25 points over second-place Ricky Craven.

Career Best Qualifying Effort Keeps Whitt Hungry 02-27-2005 11:24 pm
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series had a busy day on Friday as both qualifying for and the running of the American Racing Wheels 200 took place at the two-mile California Speedway, located in Fontana. Steve Park capitalized on Mike Bliss’ misfortune to win his first ever NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, four years to the day since his last NASCAR victory, 2001 Cup victory at Rockingham. A multi-truck accident on lap 79 took out several leaders including David Starr, who led the most laps of the race. The wreck set up a 20-lap sprint to the finish. When Bliss ran out of gas with six laps remaining, Park was there to take advantage and cruise to the win, becoming just the 10th driver to win in each of NASCAR’s top three national divisions.

Setzer Rallies for Top-Ten Fontana Finish 02-28-2005 12:56 am
Dennis Setzer and his No. 46 Silverado race team looked like they were on their way to at least a top-five finish in the American Racing Wheels 200 on Friday night. However, Dennis received a flat tire due to contact with another truck with just thirty laps to go, and had to rally from nineteenth position to score his first top-ten finish of the 2005 season.

Spencer Battles Back to Finish 7th in California 02-28-2005 2:40 am
Spencer Battles Back to Finish 7th in California Jimmy Spencer drove his No. 2 Team ASE/Ultra Wheels Dodge fielded by Ultra Motorsports to a seventh-place finish in the NASCAR Truck Series race at California Speedway on Friday night. Spencer was forced to start from the tail of the field following a post-qualifying oil cooler change, and quickly fought his way through the field. With several late race cautions bunching the field, Spencer was able to make up several positions and come home with his second top-10 finish in as many series events in 2005. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Starr’s Night Ends Early in California 02-28-2005 10:38 am

Renshaw Solid Out West with Top 20 Finish 02-28-2005 10:41 am

The excitement level can be heard in the voice of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Deborah Renshaw when she discusses her new team this season.  The same can be said when hearing her crew discuss the potential of their driver.  This excitement in the BHR2 team grew even more with Deborah's latest performance on Friday night where she piloted her No. 8 Easy Care DODGE to a 20th place finish in the running of the American Racing Wheels 200 at the California Speedway.

Atwood, No. 4 Dodge Race Report: California 02-28-2005 10:43 am
Casey Atwood utilized many of the tools he has developed in his nine-year NASCAR career to carve out an 11th place finish in the American Wheels 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at California Speedway on Friday night. Patience, determination and calculation all played a big part in allowing the 24 year-old Nashville, TN native to charge from the back of the pack to a near top-10 finish in the No. 4 Bailey's Dodge.

Hattori, No 9 Toyota Race Report: California 02-28-2005 10:46 am

After starting third in the 100-lap event at California Speedway, David Reutimann finished 13th in the No. 17 NTN Bearings Toyota Tundra. “We were disappointed with a 13th-place finish because we ran so well,” said Reutimann. “We were really free the first half of the race until we pitted for adjustments. Later in the race, we had a gear problem. We tried to hang on for a top-10 finish, but we unfortunately lost a few positions there at the end.”

Montgomery Luckless in Fontana 02-28-2005 10:57 am
As the old country classic saying goes, "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." That pretty much sums up the start of Chase Montgomery's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 2005 season. For the second straight week, Montgomery saw a very competitive truck heavily damaged through no fault of his own. However the BHR team didn’t give up faith and quickly replaced the entire front end of the No. 18 Dodge Ram and Montgomery was able to finish in 29th place at California Speedway on Friday night.

Park Ends Four-Year Drought in California Redemption is the perfect description of Steve Park’s (No. 62 Jasper Engines & Transmissions Dodge) drought-ending victory on Feb. 25 at California Speedway.

Park’s rising star – he won two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc. in 2000-01 – made a detour after the driver suffered a serious injury at Darlington Raceway nearly four years ago.

Many said Park, 37, couldn’t again climb the mountain.
