Raybestos® Rookie Notes - Kentucky
The race for Raybestos® Rookie of the Year is a close one. Leader David Reutimann has an 11-point lead (106-95) over Shane Sieg and Tracy Hines, who are tied for second place in the standings entering the Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway.
Houston Looking Forward To Bluegrass Battle
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Andy Houston and his Ultra Motorsports crew are just looking for a little kindness and a little luck. Last weekend, the Kansas track was cruel as the fickle finger of fate dealt the Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge a bad hand in the form of a lap-two crash that all but eliminated any hopes the team had for success. The driver and the team are banking on better fortunes this weekend in the Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway.

Chad Chaffin in the Dickies Dodge at Dover, his first NCTS win |
Chad Chaffin never has doubted his abilities as a racer. But he’ll tell you that turning skills into stardom requires more than self-confidence. Or, put another way, it’s as much who you know as what – in this case NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teammate and mentor Bobby Hamilton. “It’s like when you hang out with someone who is successful you learn how to be successful,” said Chaffin, whose fortunes definitely are upward bound entering Saturday’s The Built Ford Tough 225 presented by the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers at Kentucky Speedway. “When you hang out with a really good driver you pick up things. You see how he does things differently. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Dennis Setzer On Kentucky Speedway:
“Kentucky Speedway is somewhat like Kansas in that is it smooth and wide with plenty of racing room. We have had very solid runs since the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series started racing here in 2000. We have come close to winning a couple of times. I am confident Danny (Gill, crew chief) and the guys know exactly what we need in the truck so we unload good and really spend our practice time fine-tuning our race setup. We need a strong run in Kentucky after the bad luck we had at Kansas last weekend.”

For the second week in a row - and third time in 2004 - inclement weather has canceled NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Bud Pole qualifying. Hamilton Wins Big in Kentucky
Bobby Hamilton dominated Saturday’s rain delayed Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway, but was forced to make a late-race pass on a restart to bring home his third checkered flag of the 2004 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. Hamilton flexed his muscles all night long, at times leading by over 9 seconds before Sprague used a late race caution to close the gap and fight for the lead. The race started nearly and hour behind schedule due to a wet track from a very heavy storm that moved through during the late afternoon. Fifty-five minutes late, the green flag waved in conjunction with the caution flag, and the lap count started while the field maintained their two-by-two formation. Setzer, starting from the pole based on owner points, picked up the five bonus points for leading the first lap. (High Sierra Photo)

Numerous CTS Records Fall After Hamilton Takes Kentucky
In his 60th career start Square D driver Bobby Hamilton led 133 of 153 laps, stretching that lead to eight seconds at times, en route to winning the Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway. The series-leading win moved Hamilton up to second in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points battle; he is only six points behind leader Dennis Setzer.
Hamilton Takes Kentucky by Storm
Bobby Hamilton’s late bobble made the easy look difficult. Hamilton built leads of up to eight seconds and with fewer a dozen laps remaining was heading – unchallenged – to victory in Saturday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway. Hamilton’s truck, however, lost traction in the 1.5-mile track’s second turn, a lap after the field restarted following caution for Terry Cook’s Turn 4 accident on the 139th circuit. That was all Jack Sprague needed to power past the Nashville veteran on the backstretch, to the amazement of an announced crowd of 42,661 that earlier had waited out a 55-minute rain delay. Flat Tire Ends Strong Run for Cook

Sprague Back in Championship Form after Kentucky
When Jack Sprague and the No. 16 Chevy Trucks Silverado team were heading to Kentucky Speedway for Saturday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, it seemed they had a 900-pound bad-luck gorilla for a teammate. Sprague and company feel like they have shaken off the big guy with not only a strong run from the tenth starting spot to a second place finish but racing hard for the win as well, and are ready for bigger and better things this weekend at Gateway International Raceway.

Diary of a Champion: Kentucky Bluegrass
The week before the Kentucky race, I was still in Milwaukee spending time with my family for July 4 enjoying the home town parade, the fireworks and all of the fun surrounding the holiday. I flew out for the race weekend on Thursday morning to visit TMMK (Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky) in Georgetown. Our team had a show truck at the plant and Mike and I were given the opportunity to take a tour to see how Toyota builds the Solara, the Avalon and the Camry. It was pretty neat to see the manufacturing process. (David Vaughn Photo)
