Kelly “Girl” Sutton Looks to Lowe’s for Strong Finish
Female Driver With MS Returns to her “Home Away From Home” - While Kelly Sutton’s crew feverishly prepares for the season’s fourth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race in Charlotte, she steps out of the Huntersville, N.C., race shop to concentrate on the race ahead. Sutton knows that racing under the lights of the 1.5 mile oval of Lowe’s Motor Speedway will be demanding, but she’s prepared for that. She’s raced here before, and knows something about facing challenges.

Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge Driver Hoping For Momentum Change
Andy Houston knows his time will come, he is just wondering when. Lady Luck has not been a co-pilot for Houston and his Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge crew for the beginning of the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Houston has suffered through crashes not of his design, ill timed caution flags and mysterious suspension woes, but his attitude is undaunted.

Chad Chaffin Dickies Preview - Infineon 200

“My dad owns a salvage yard in Nashville.  About a week ago a guy came in and said he wanted to shoot a 50 cent video at the salvage yard.  My dad has let other groups such as, fire departments or other musicians do that before, so it wasn’t a big deal.  Except for the fact that my dad didn’t know that 50 Cent was a huge artist.  So he agreed to this low paying video shoot.  Well about two or three days later the guy came back and wanted my dad to start stacking up these cars for a stage.

Houston Looks For Luck At Lowe's
Andy Houston knows his time will come, he is just wondering when. Lady Luck has not been a co-pilot for Houston and his Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge crew for the beginning of the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Houston has suffered through crashes not of his design, ill timed caution flags and mysterious suspension woes, but his attitude is undaunted.

Michael Waltrip's Chevy All-Star Debut Set for Charlotte
Chevy All-Stars Although it is well documented that Chevrolet Silverado has enjoyed unparalleled success in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) since its inaugural 1995 season, the experts at GM Racing have not rested on past achievements. Chevrolet has responded to the continual growth of the competition level in NCTS with an arsenal of technological advances and resources for Team Silverado.  In 2004, GM Racing has taken a unique approach to further advance technology and performance in the Silverado race program that will maintain Chevrolet’s winning ways in the NCTS.  Much of Silverado’s success early in the NCTS came with established teams in the form of Hendrick Motorsports, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. and Richard Childress Racing.  Their truck programs thrived on the valuable “trickle-down” effect from those organization’s vast resources gathered from their NASCAR Cup and NASCAR Busch teams.  Now the key players in Chevy’s future include teams such as Morgan-Dollar Motorsports, IWX Racing, Spears Racing and Kevin Harvick, Inc.  All are all independent organizations without the advantage of parent teams in NASCAR’s other divisions from which to gather information.

Return to Victory Lane would ease tension for Musgrave
Ted Musgrave Over the course of a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, driver and team are sure to experience the best and worst of times.  Ted Musgrave (No. 1 Mopar Dodge) and his Ultra Motorsports crew are hoping the best is yet to come – starting this week at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the Infineon 200, a race they won in 2003.  Certainly, the 2004 season through four races has been the worst, perhaps in the nine-plus years that Ultra has competed for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series title. Musgrave, uncharacteristically 12th in the points standings after finishing second and third, respectively, in 2002 and ‘03, counts only a single top-10 finish this year.

Kimmel Truckin' for some Charlotte Success
For the third time in the 2004 season, five-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion, Frank Kimmel will pilot the No. 29 K Automotive Ford in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.  With two wins and four poles at the 1.5-mile Lowe’s Motor Speedway in his ARCA car, Kimmel hopes to bring much of his past success into this Friday’s Infineon 200.

Jack Sprague Fast Facts: CHARLOTTE
The #16 Chevy Trucks Silverado was like a rocket when it came off the corners it hit so hard.   It was one of those situations that it was not bad to be tight off the center.   My truck was just perfect.   We had the power under the hood and are pleased about our finish. We just kept digging, saved our stuff and it worked out. I had perfect pit stops today and it all just came together.

Steve Park Infineon 200 Notes & Quotes
I like going to Lowe’s. It is in our backyard. The racetrack is unique. It changes so much from day to night. A lot of people don’t like it for that reason. The track is hot and slick during the day. At night it has a lot more grip in it, and it changes a lot. It is very sensitive to weather and temperature changes. From a driver standpoint and crew chief standpoint, you have to stay on your toes.

Sport Clips And Imi Together Again… In Charlotte
Sport Clips (All*Star Haircuts for Men and Boys) has agreed to sponsor the #21 Innovative Motorsports Toyota Tundra driven by Hank Parker, Jr. in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.  Sport Clips will be the primary sponsor of the #21 Toyota Tundra in the Infineon 200 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Friday night.  Sport Clips, who is a major associate sponsor on the #4 Biagi Bros. Racing entry in the NASCAR Busch Series, is in the first year of building their brand through NASCAR.

Cup Driver Works With Reutimann At Lowe’s Motor Speedway
Occupying third-place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings, David Reutimann turns to Michael Waltrip for a bit of advice since the No. 17 NTN Bearings Toyota driver has never turned a lap at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

David Starr Fastest at Charlotte
David Starr at the Bud Pole David Starr, who hadn't won a Bud Pole since late in the 2002 NASCAR Craftsman Truck eries season, led 15 drivers who broke the Lowe's Motor Speedway one-lap record in Thursday's qualifying for the Infineon 200.  The Houston veteran, at the wheel of the Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet, lapped the 1.5-mile track at an average speed of 178.577 mph. The lap was .141 second quicker than the effort recorded by 2003 Raybestos Rookie of the Year Carl Edwards. Edwards'  Superchips Ford posted a speed of 177.749 mph. The pole was the third by Starr, who's searching for his first top-five finish of the 2004 season. Starr finished ninth in his most recent two starts, at Mansfield, Ohio and Martinsville, Va.

Travis Kvapil Infineon Preview
Travis has accumulated two top-fives and two top-10’s this season in only four races. He currently sits in 10th place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver’s points’ race, only 99 points out of the lead.

Mike Skinner Infineon 200 Preview
Mike Skinner is getting in the spirit naming his Toyota Tundra chasses after different wines this season. GM Racing/Team Silverado Charlotte Pre-event Notes and Quotes
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Infineon 200 – May 21, 2004 – Lowe’s Motor Speedway

Michael Waltrip Fast Facts: CHARLOTTE
The opportunity to run the truck race on Friday night for Chevrolet with Sheryl Crow on the side of my little Silverado is quite an honor.   They are kicking off their Chevy All Star program and we get to be the first one to race.   I love Charlotte Motor Speedway. I’ve always run real well there.   We are coming off a strong test with our little truck out in Chicago and all went well there.   Enjoyed the opportunity to work with Randy Goss (#47 Axiom Silverado Crew Chief) and all the people folks from Chevrolet.

Dennis Setzer Infineon 200 Notes and Quotes
Lowe’s Motor Speedway is a great track for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to compete.  It’s the home track for the majority of the teams and the promoters do a first class job in promoting us here.  The night time setting gives the race a special feel to the race.  Everyone wants to win this one because for the most part we all live close by.

Dennis Setzer Wins Infineon 200; Second Consecutive Victory for Team Silverado
Setzer does a burnout for the fans Dennis Setzer behind the wheel of the #46 Chevrolet Silverado fielded by Morgan Dollar Motorsports brought home the victory in the Infineon 200 for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. It is the 11th career win in NCTS competition for the Newton, NC native. It is the second consecutive victory for Team Silverado. The win extended Setzer’s series points lead to 37 with five of the 25 events on the 2004 schedule in the record books.
Setzer took the lead on lap 122 of the 134-lap, 200-mile race only to lose it six laps later to Carl Edwards. The pair then waged a crowd pleasing battle with Setzer taking the point again on lap 131 charging to the checkered a mere 0.869 seconds ahead of Edwards. Six of the top-ten finishers were piloting Silverado trucks. Fellow Team Silverado driver and the event pole sitter David Starr brought the Spears Manufacturing Silverado to the finish line in third followed by Kevin Harvick in the Snap-On Tools Silverado. Setzer’s teammate Michael Waltrip in the #47 Acxiom Chevy Silverado All Stars truck finished in fifth after looking to be the class of the field throughout the race leading three times for a total of 49 laps. Shane Hmiel, #15 Earl Small’s Harley Davidson Silverado finished sixth and the #6 GM Goodwrench Silverado of Matt Crafton came to the checkered in ninth.

Engine Woes Spoil Top-5 Run For Reutimann
Running fifth during Lap 68 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, David Reutimann’s momentum came to an abrupt halt when the No. 17 NTN Bearings Toyota Tundra incurred engine problems forcing him out of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Reutimann finished 36th in the 134-lap event.

Terry Cook Battles Tight-Handling Ford at Lowe’s Motor Speedway
Terry Cook and the No. 10 Ford race team finished 14th at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, battling a tight-handling truck and multiple lead-lap competitors. Interim crew chief, Wes Ward, worked with Cook to improve the handling, making several adjustments to the ppc Racing backup truck. After the event, Cook talked about the challenging weekend.

Gordon 25th In Charlotte Truck Race
Tina Gordon survived a spin on the fourth lap and went on to finish 25th in the Infineon 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race Friday, May 21. It was her best NCTS finish since a 24th-place performance in the season-opening race in Daytona Beach, Fla. in February.

Flat Tire Hampers Team EJP Racing For Second Consecutive Week; Bodine 27th In Infineon 200
Geoffrey Bodine raced the No. 03 Team EJP Racing Chevrolet into the top-20 in Friday night's Infineon 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway before contact with another truck caused a flat tire and a green flag pit stop to change it for the second consecutive week. The stop caused Bodine to lose a lap to the leaders, and resulted in a 27th-place finish.

Hines Finds Frustration In Charlotte Run
Tracy Hines started a season-best 12th in the NASCAR Truck Series Infineon 200 in Charlotte on Friday, but a tight race truck and a gamble on adjustments to fix the tight condition caused the No. 88 Menards Chevrolet to graze the wall, sending the ThorSport Racing team to the garage area for lengthy repairs. The crew made quick repairs to the damage and Hines returned to the track and gained two positions, equating to six championship points.

Whitt Finishes 18th at Lowe's
Brandon Whitt and the Cure Autism Now Ford F-150 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team ran a very consistent race, bringing home an 18th-place finish in the Infineon 200 at the 1.5-mile Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Houston's Luck Goes From Bad To Worse at Lowe's
Andy Houston's unfortunate string of bad luck continued Friday night as his Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge was involved in an early race restart skirmish on lap 20.

Setzer Wins Big in Charlotte
High Sierra Photo Dennis Setzer and his #46 Chevrolet Silverado race team showed that the competition better take notice of this team at more than just the short tracks. Setzer and his one-race teammate, Michael Waltrip, dominated the mid to late part of the Infineon 200 on Friday night, but it was Setzer’s late race pass of Carl Edwards that gave him the win. Dennis Setzer behind the wheel of the #46 Chevrolet Silverado fielded by Morgan Dollar Motorsports brought home the team’s sixth win overall and first win this year with the victory in the Infineon 200 for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. It was Setzer’s 11th career win in NCTS competition for the Newton, NC native. The win also extended Setzer’s series points lead to 37 with five of the 25 events on the 2004 schedule in the record books. And speaking of records, Dennis set another NCTS record by scoring tonight’s win as he now has at least one win in seven consecutive seasons of NCTS competition.

Hmiel Wheels to Sixth in Charlotte
The Infineon 200 at Lowe's Motor Speedway was an action packed race for the #15 Earl Small's Harley-Davidson Chevrolet Silverado. The lap 4 caution had the Billy Ballew Motorsports team holding their breath as the #12 Truck of Robert Huffman spun, what seemed like only inches in front of Hmiel's Truck.  Hmiel was able to avoid a collision and was quickly advancing from his start of 18th, gaining spots. By lap 10, he had jumped to 13th place.

Setzer Soars to Victory in Charlotte
High Sierra Photo Dennis Setzer’s stunning 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season continued Friday night with an improbable victory in Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s Infineon 200. Runnerup Carl Edwards simply was stunned. Setzer, who much of the evening played a supporting role to Morgan-Dollar Motorsports teammate Michael Waltrip, shot past Edwards’ Superchips Ford four laps from the finish when the Daytona winner lifted out of the gas – believing that caution had been triggered by smoke from Chad Chaffin’s damaged Dodge.

Five Top-25 Toyotas At Lowe's
Five Toyota Tundras, led by Travis Kvapil's eighth-place, finished among the top-25 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race at Charlotte's Lowe's Motor Speedway. Following Kvapil across the finish line at the 1.5-mile speedway in Toyota Tundras were Mike Skinner (15th), Robert Huffman (16th), Bill Lester (21st) and Hank Parker Jr. (22nd).

Musgrave's Luck Sours in Charlotte
Ted Musgrave won the NCTS event at Lowe's Motor Speedway last May, but contact on Pit Road prevented him from driving the No. 1 Mopar Dodge Ram to a repeat victory at the Charlotte, N.C. track.

Starr Posts Best Run Yet this Season at Charlotte
Showing off both his skill and that of the Spears Motorsports crew, David Starr powered his No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Chevy Silverado to take the Pole and a third place finish in the Infineon 200, Round 5 of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Friday, May 21.

Better Times Ahead for Sprague
Perhaps Charles Dickens said it best in the opening line of A Tale of Two Cities. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Although he certainly wasn’t referring to racing, the sentiment none-the-less applies to the highs and lows Jack Sprague and the #16 Chevy Trucks Silverado team have experienced in a brief five-day span.

Todd Bodine Rallies To 20th At LMS
After a nine-year hiatus, Todd Bodine returned to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Friday night under the Fiddle Back Racing banner. The NASCAR veteran overcame a series of problems to score a 20th place finish in the Infineon 200.

Handling Woes Torment Montgomery at Charlotte
Chase Montgomery’s rookie season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series continued on its path of a rocky road on Friday night.  While fighting a bad handling truck, the 22-year-old brought home his #8 DODGE in the 24th position in the running of the Infineon 200 under the lights at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Despite Early Struggles, Kvapil Back in the Groove Following Infineon 200
Dependable. Durable. Successfully withstands the elements. The same characteristics used to describe Travis Kvapil's sponsor, Line-X Spray On Truck Bedliners, could aptly define the reigning champion's performance at Lowe's Motor Speedway after charging to the Top-10 on Friday night. With an eighth place finish, the defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion gained three spots in the points race, only 142 points out of the lead.

Struggles Spoil Skinner's Infineon 200 Weekend
Inaugural Craftsman Truck Series Champion Mike Skinner has seen Lowe's Motor Speedway a time or two. The California veteran returned to the track on Friday with one pole, one Top-five and six Top-10's in 20 Busch and Cup starts under his belt and was confident that his Bang Racing team would be contending for a victory. But battles on and off the track would mar his charge to lead the 36 participants during the fifth event of the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule.

Carl Edwards Responds To NASCAR Mistake
Did Carl Edwards properly yield to a caution signal or did he make a mistake by assuming a caution signal was displayed? That question was answered by NASCAR today.

NASCAR Statement Regarding Inadvertent Caution During NCTS Event
After further review, officials of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) today verified the caution lights were unintentionally illuminated momentarily on Lap 130 of Friday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. NASCAR officials were not aware of the caution lights being triggered briefly on Friday evening as well as the following day based on the available data, including videotape footage, which was reviewed. NASCAR officials did not have confirmation that such an incident occurred during the 134-lap race until reviewing in-car camera footage that became available Monday. The additional footage did confirm the caution lights flashed momentarily. Officials at NASCAR have concluded the switch that controls the caution lights in the flagman’s stand was momentarily triggered. NASCAR officials spoke with driver Carl Edwards, team owner Jack Roush and crew chief Kevin Starland to apologize for the mistake.

Hamilton Logs Another Top 10 in Charlotte
Bobby Hamilton wheeled his Square D Dodge around Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval in the top five for most of the Infineon 200 until he was forced to pit for fuel. Although Hamilton restarted in 30th with only 50 laps left in the race, he passed 20 trucks to finish the event in 10th position. Hamilton is still fourth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings, only four points out of the third spot.
